Help Support BearcatTalk:

Thanks L-T. One thing I've learned (especially over the last 2-3 years) is that most UC fans are not nuisanced enough in their thinking to realize that I can be a true UC fans and still be HIGHLY critical of how UC is doing athletically. Do people really think I'd care this much if I was a Xavier troll? Or Louisville troll? Or Ohio State troll? Or whatever other troll I've been accused of in the past?

I've been active on UC message boards since 2006. That is a decade. A lot of the people on this board didn't even become UC fans until Brian Kelly was the football coach. They weren't UC fans when Cronin was hired.

You're preaching to the choir. I haven't hardly missed attending a Bearcat basketball game in a half century, and every single family member from my parents, myself, and through all four of my kids has either had a long career employed by the university, or has graduated from the university. One of my sons was actually the Bearcat mascot. In spite of that, I may hold the top ranking of the most vilified poster here, and have been called a troll thousnds of times. Mediocrity is not something that I deal with very well. I'm all about continuous improvement. Thus, I reside in the glass-half-empty crowd at the present time.

At least NTS has appeared in a movie...

JK NTS!

Some think in order to be a "true" or "good" fan, you have to fully be on board with and defend every single thing that goes on no matter what. Nothing wrong with that, should you choose to be that type of supporter. But you also have to understand that not everyone will be that way. And at the present time, imo it isn't being negative just to be negative. We aren't exactly winning at a high level in either of the 2 main sports that define a university's athletic program.

I am a glass half-empty kinda guy myself when it comes to UC lately. I still think that somehow we will be screwed when this expansion process is all said and done. Either they will take someone else who is obviously not as deserving as us or ESPN and Fox will throw some more money at the Big 12 and they will cancel expansion.

What gets me even more peeved is watching X get into a better conference and rake in 4-star recruits by the day. If we never get into a power 5 (or Super 4) I hope we drop X so we don't have to get beat by them every year.

Mediocre Mick would love nothing more than to drop Xavier. Unfortunately the athletic department would never do that since it's the only game that will be a guaranteed sell out.

L-T, at least it is apparent that you are knowledgeable and an active supporter of the University. The same for Jacob. With NTS I've never seen any of that - just a long line of snarky remarks. I honestly don't think I've ever seen a post that would be considered positive. The icing on the cake is his rooting for UC to get left out of the Big 12 expansion. There is no justifiable position that would support our inclusion as a negative. None. That's when he crossed over from just being the grumpy old man as depicted in the movie clip (gotta admit - pretty funny) to someone who truly doesn't want to see the program advance - not a friend of the program.

You and Jacob may be frustrated, but at least it comes from a place of support for the University. I see none of that from NTS. Maybe I'm wrong - I don't really care either way. Neither should anyone else.

That said, I've got my football & basketball season tickets renewed again and I can't wait to go root on my Cats!

The truce will be getting in the BIG 12. If by then we are not recruiting better and not winning games that should at that time.

The truce might come when Mick finally elevates this program to something more than just at-large 8-10 seed bids to the NCAA and re-taking this city and region from Xavier. He won't be able to accomplish that without recruiting substantially better. He couldn't recruit in the Big East. I don't expect anything more in the Big 12. If he loses to X this year, he'll become the only coach in our history to lose 4 in a row to X. He's already the only coach to lose 3 in a row to them twice. There's a long way to go to reverse what has become the norm under this coach. Probably the only hope is this Big 12 expansion possibility. But, I think 10 years has shown us the best we can expect from him. If he is any better than what we've already seen, I'll have to see it to believe it.

We're assuming that attendance will go way up in the Big 12. Again, that didn't happen in the Big East. I'm expecting huge ticket price increases when we open the new arena and start play in the Big 12. That alone could shut down a big bump in attendance. It still comes back to his recruiting. If he starts signing some blue chippers.....and if we get into the Big 12....and if we open an awesome fan-friendly arena, and if we start taking an annual spot in the Top 25 like we once did, then attendance will go up. That'a a lot of ifs.

For someone who doesn't care you sure love to comment on the topic...

I have my tickets renewed as well. However, I will be rooting for us to lose each game....lol....j/k. Waite believes I'm rooting against Mick every game. The truth is.....I could care less if Mick becomes the next Coach K. You'll see me on here praising him as much as I've dogged him the last 7 years. I just want results and if Mick can give me those results, he can stay for 100 years as far as I'm concerned. I've lost complete confidence in him at this point, but that won't deter me from attending games and cheering like I've always done.

I'm pretty sure NTS is as big a supporter of the program as any of us. We all have fun with this posting stuff from time to time just to overcome boredom and periods in here when nothing is happening. I certainly believe he would get excited with an entry into the Big 12.

I think they only thing we need right now to get everything moving is an outstanding season. That's it. Recruits will come...but not until we spend some quality time in the top 15 or top 10 and make it out of the first weekend of the dance.

Every season that goes by that we do not do this...the harder it will be to recruit...and the harder it will be to get the bandwagon fans to pay attention.

We made the Sweet 16 in 2011-12. The 2012 recruiting class was Titus Rubles and Kelvin Gaines. So much for that helping.

We were ranked in the top 15 for a large portion of the season in 2013-14. We followed that up with a recruiting class of Quadri Moore, Gary Clark, and 3 JUCO's. That didn't do it either.

Interesting that Xavier seem to be recruiting well and they've never made the Final 4 and have lost in the first weekend or have not made the tournament 4 of the last 6 years.

If we some how get into the Big 12, Mick gets 2 years to improve or GTFO (and Tuberville should be fired after the press conference).

Interesting, "sources" saying that WVU may not actually want Cinci in the #Big12, as they recruit out of OH and don't want more competition

well, if secondhand summaries of unverified sources from a byu fan with less than 1000 followers who has tweeted 46,000 times doesn't seal the deal then i don't know what will.

party's over, boys.
