Maybe so. I'm not here to judge. Just posting what I come across. That's why I said to take it with a grain of salt.

I say that because from what ive seen on twitter, I use to follow him, and all he would do is get in fights with UC fans and talk loads of crap

Every time this thread lights up I need a shot of whiskey before clicking it

Contributing to your sanity, have another drink. Like you and many UC fans, I'm numb to this discussion. I want it so desperately, but it's looking more and more like the waiting will go on and on and on...

Boren may get his way, I'm not counting on it. The next round of Big12 meetings will be focused on the conference championship game. The discussion may get to looking at the expansion data received, but not discussing expansion or even voting on it.

As fans, the only thing we can do is support our team which Coach TT is making difficult.

Expansion talk picking up steam again here's a good article in the enquier on our chances

7 of the ten are in favor of expansion, 75% is needed in big 12. We need Texas, Texas tech, or tcu to change their mind. Our best bet is Texas tech imo.

Here's another good article
http://www.vanquishthefoe.com/2016/5/3/11576606/byu-football-big-12-expansion-texas-tcu-memphis
A football title game would increase their chance of getting a team in playoff by 4-5%

*** things will be more clear in a month or so

The fact that an independent consulting firm has recommended to the Big 12 that they expand to have the best chance of being competitive going forward is huge news. Bowlsby already said that the University Presidents were committed to learning what an independent commission would present and that their recommendations would have a big impact on any decisions that are made.

I really think at this point it's going to come down to the pride of Texas. Will they be able to admit that the Longhorn Network is not commercially viable and will they be willing to convert it to a Big 12 network and remain with the biggest piece of the pie or will they be too prideful to admit that their network is tanking at it's not sustainable?

Based on everything I've read/heard over the last month I'm more bullish than ever on the possibility of us joining the Big 12. I won't be shocked if it doesn't happen but I also won't be shocked if it does. I'd put the odds right now at 50/50.

I'm for Memphis. After having attended the Liberty Bowl vs Vandy, I really like Memphis. Beale St was great. Memphis is pretty close to WVU and UC. I think it would be a nice fit and in the heart of SEC/ACC country. UC would be in the heart of Big 10 country.

Hope is Fading

The more I read about Big 12 Expansion, the more discouraged I become. At first, I got a sense it may very well happen, and UC was at the top of possible candidates. Now, it seems that expansion may not happen at all, and UC is an also-ran. Money controls everything, and that is one thing lacking with UC.

Don't give up all hope. We're in a decent location with a decent market. Not the greatest, but pretty good. Look at how FC Cincinnati has been doing and that will give you an idea of the untapped media potential of our area.

Not seeing it that way at all. Most schools are for the expansion. Once the report is issued by the consultant, it will show you are correct, money talks. Because the report will show everyone will make money. It will show that Texas needs to do something with it's network. It will show a new Big 12 network in the making will enhance revenue. It shows expansion will help all of the football programs financially.

BYU is most likely not in the race. Due to the fact they cannot do anything on Sunday makes for a huge disadvantage in basketball scheduling. BYU will not be one of the players. UConn football is nowhere close to being up to par, however that could change. It's between Cincinnati, Memphis and UConn. UConn too far east leaving UC and Memphis as the choices. Both provide relief for WVU and both have large TV markets. Memphis is throwing around alot of money.

The Big 12 has to take the two best schools available because if they wait too long, they may have little or no choice but to take schools that do not fit into the league.

HOPE YOU ARE CORRECT

I hope you are correct. That is exactly how I felt earlier in the process, but the more I read the more pessimistic I have become. Presently, I don't think the Big 12 will make a move, and just kick the can down the road. Money always talks, and like you said Memphis has some to throw around. You also have to consider the TV markets/Recruiting---Tampa, Orlando. Best bet is that nothing will happen. I feel sorry for the UC people who obviously have put in the time on this situation.

If expansion happens (and it's a big if), UC will be included. UC stacks up very favorably with other Big 12 schools, is favored by WVU and Oklahoma which will help in the process. Ultimately, it will come down to Texas relinquishing it's Longhorn Network for the greater good of the conference. ESPN is losing massive money so it isn't outrageous that they could put some major pressure on Texas to make this happen. If Texas approves expansion, it will happen. If not, odds are it won't. The Big 12 is in this mess by being reactive rather than proactive. We will see if they have learned their lesson.

Big 12 Should take 4

I can't stop thinking about the Big 12. Does it do any good? NO! I suggest they take 4 schools to make 2 divisions with 7 schools in each. Take UC, Memphis, Central Florida, and BYU.
Reasons: 2 seven team divisions are better than 2 six team divisions
TV Markets and recruiting
Travel partners with WVU
Buffer in case of pilfering
What is the drawback to UC--what do you see as their weakness as to not being a viable candidate?

If OU has been contacted by 25 schools that believe they belong in big time football or want to be in big time football why can't they get together and make their own football conference?

I don't remember where I heard it, but I believe it was the WV AD who said the travel partner thing was irrelevant bc it is still far enough away from Cincinnati that they'd take charter flights.

TRAVEL PARTNER

What I believe being a travel partner would be like, in basketball, if TCU plays basketball at UC on a Thursday, they could then play at WVU on Saturday as an example. This type of set up would keep travel down. Earlier when I mentioned BYU, they could go with Houston---IF, IF, IF
