Big 12

What I believe being a travel partner would be like, in basketball, if TCU plays basketball at UC on a Thursday, they could then play at WVU on Saturday as an example. This type of set up would keep travel down. Earlier when I mentioned BYU, they could go with Houston---IF, IF, IF

Ah gotcha.

If the B12 stays at 10 or expands but they take Memphis and Houston, what is plan B?

Does the AAC make sense long term if a possible invite to a P5 conference is off the table?

I think the AAC needs to focus on basketball hardcore if the conference is stuck with its current participants. We see the Big East still relevant in basketball and none of those teams will ever go to a power 5 conference. With UConn, Memphis, Temple and us we could be a great conference. Maybe add some other teams as we see fit and throw out some schools if they hurt us in basketball such as East Carolina.

How about a 14 team conference (10 playing football) with:

Temple, UCONN, UC, Memphis, Houston, Dayton, UMASS, St. Louis, VCU, GW, UCF, USF, Navy and ECU?

If Memphis and Houston go to the B12, you add UNCC and SMU.

10 decent football programs and a pretty good basketball conference.

Tubbs speaking up a little bit on expansion

. @TTuberville said he can't believe that the Big 12 hasn't expanded yet and any team would be interested in joining.

. @TTuberville tells us that if the Big 12 doesn't expand it will implode. He doesn't think it will stay status quo.

More interesting things regarding expansion. Here's some good tidbits of what people are saying.

Christopher Lambert‏@theDudeofWV
@RedDirtSport BHV data recommends expansion to 14. BHV says B12N footprint
would be 20m day 1 and potentially reach 50m.

Christopher Lambert‏@theDudeofWV
@RedDirtSport Theoretically a B12 with 14 members would require each member
to surrender just $1M of network $ to make Texas whole.

Christopher Lambert‏@theDudeofWV
@RedDirtSport Realistically new members would likely not receive network
revenue until 2024 thus reducing the burden on current members.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 9h9 hours ago
@RedDirtSport But a deal may be in the works for the B12 to delay the
decision on a network & go ahead and add 2 for 2017 then 2 later.

@UCONNfan14 now he is saying exactly what I said in Nov, which was that
most likely scenario is UConn & Cinci now, & CSU & BYU or Mem 2020.

Greg Flugaur‏@flugempire
@CSURamT @UCONNfan14
But that is not what we are saying.
UC/UCONN now..if 12 and B12N is successful then 13 & 14 has BYU and UCF as
Favs.

Big Ten Man (BTM): UCF candidacy to B12 upcoming years will be dependent on
relationship of FSU/Miami with ESPN.
If ESPN makes FSU "whole" with ACCN.....

Easton Knight ‏@EastonKnight · 1h1 hour ago
@flugempire What do you mean by making FSU 'whole'?

Greg Flugaur‏@flugempire
@EastonKnight
Short for getting ACCN off the ground and Max out branding/marketing/$
opportunities for FSU in ACC.

Nothing is official, and don't expect it to be with #Big12. Offers would likely be extended for 2017-18 athletic seasons.

He also said this before that, side note he has 55 thousand followers

No surprise the votes are now there, 8-2 for #Big12 expansion, but now who gets the offer? #BYU #UCBearcats #UConn #GoTigersGo #GoCoogs #UCF

I still think where there is smoke, there is fire. Ultimately, Texas has to be on board or at least made whole for expansion to happen. I still put it at 50/50 but, should it happen, I truly believe it is going to include UC. From there I think it is between Memphis and UCONN. I think BYU is too difficult and I don't see the Big 12 moving west right now. I don't see the Florida thing happening right now. No other league needs to go to Florida so, should the Big 12 move to 14 teams one day, those Florida schools would definitely still be there. That's not to say that any of these other schools wouldn't be there too. I think they go east in UC and UCONN.

Big 12 lack of Action

This expansion is not going to take place soon enough for me. I would suggest that they will move at a snail's pace. One thing I have a hard time grasping, although it is very typical, ADs and school presidents may feel one way (let's say to expand), but the school muckety-mucks, chancellors etc. put the kibosh on it! All stars will have to align just right, they will have to ignore Fed Ex and a hand full of money. If you read articles from the papers out in Big 12 country, Cincinnati is barely mentioned.

BIG GAME LOOMS

When UC plays Houston this fall on Thursday, September 15th, it will mean a lot in regards to Big 12 expansion. People out in Texas are really pushing the Houston Cougars. Big 12 people are saying strength of football team will go along way. I say it will mean a lot for UC to beat Houston this year in football. Problem is UC plays at Purdue on the Saturday before they play Houston on Thursday. Cats must have a great year this year.

Everything I've read says they want a decision on expansion before end of Summer, so it may not even matter if they decide before then. I dont think a Single game will hurt or help our chances to be honest

or is it a sign and frustration of not being able to get in. Hope not.

I think the Big 12 has all of the information they need and Santa has done a fabulous job to put UC into favorable consideration. There's nothing more that can be done at this point until Texas decides not to block expansion. If that happens, the Big 12 has all they need to make their selections (or have already made it). I think UC has a 60-70% chance of getting in if the Big 12 expands by two and 100% if they expand by four (though I think there's little to no chance they expand by four).

Conference Composition is the new term for expansion (Bowlby quote), Bowlsby advises Big 12 to expand, ACC Network (fact), ACC GOR extended to 2036 (fact), **RUMOR** BYU getting congratulatory welcome to the Big 12 call from OU AD, etc...

Today is going to put an end to UC to the Big 12 Expansion topics. Either they vote to end expansion talks (end of the thread) or they vote to expand (beginning of the will we get an invite thread).

Bowlsby says conference composition:
