we root for houston to get beat so badly that their buildings back on campus collapse
Brett McMurphy and Jake Trotter reporting that Memphis did not make the cut.
Not to feed the troll myself but byu with a two point win over Arizona is really consequential in the big 12 expansion? As usual someone is really grasping at straws@ChuckCarltonDMN
Big 12 expansion should be about more than 1 game. But timing and perception matters. Houston and BYU made the most of their opportunities.

This guy appears to have legit contacts at OU. Announced Houston as a contender before it went nationally, and was calling out hockey expansion weeks before it happened.
Do that and extend the GOR - that would be a solid addition to the B12.
The consensus thinking is that extending the GOR is not on the table. I wonder if the conference would extend the GOR with all members giving a commitment except Texas? Give Texas the opportunity to extend GOR in 2022 and all other teams commit to the Big 12 (or 14 in this proposed scenario).

Houston support is strong.
FYI, I was at the game, and that was taken about 5 minutes after we were told to evacuate the stadium due to the lightning. Attendance was 39.4k (seats 40k).
Winning absolutely matters especially when your competing for that entertainment dollar in a Pro town. It was just pointed out to me by L-T on another topic that to get basketball tickets at one time you had to purchase football tickets. It's a very nice stadium. Obviously I have a bias towards Nippert though. It's a great place and when it gets rocking...
Timing is everything attendance-wise for schools like Cincinnati and Houston. 5-6 years ago (heck, even 3 years ago) our attendance was excellent regardless of opponent. A few disappointing years and we're still doing okay, but now UH comes off a very good season and a big opening win and suddenly it doesn't matter who the opponent is.
I remember the same thing in basketball in the very early '90s when I was a student at UC. Southern Miss comes in and the Shoe is about half full. Indiana comes in and it's SRO. Final Four year and for quite a few years afterward, it didn't matter if it was Kentucky or Brooklyn, the place was packed.
Winning matters - and when it doesn't, quality of opponent does. Thursday night, you'll see a reflection of both.
