Nice. Nice.

I say we invite UK too. COULD YOU IMAGINE THAT BASKETBALL CONFERENCE!!! PUHA!

Get it done. The sooner the better.

I wonder if Marinatto went or Tagliabue (or maybe both). The Kansas President used to be the President at UCONN up to a few years ago. That certainly helps with all of this.

That would be huge. Question is that Cincy may not even be in the big east. The ACC is gonna get raided, and looking for bodies.

swg-

you're probably right. I'd like to think it would be beneficial for UC and other BE teams to have both options available. This would provide leverage for potential negotiations with the folks in the ACC. If they can't match the deal that we would have with the B12 remnants, then the ACC can pound sand.

The SEC is gonna raid the ACC, and everyone is going to do backflips looking for people. It's going to be a war to see who gets left standing w/o a chair.

At this point, Thomas is probably seeing different scenarios every other day.

Some of this has been mapped out, but I don't think a script is written for what happens next.

The only fear I have is that the ACC takes the Big East eastern guard (any of UCONN, Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers, USF) and tells UC to take a hike. I do not have that same worry about the B12 schools and in fact from what I have seen they think UC is a good program.

Won't happen because I think Rutgers, UCONN and either Syracuse or Pitt are Big 10 bound. They will take 3 from the Big East, then go to ND and tell them this is their last chance and if ND still declines, they will take Missouri.

ugh. I don't think Iowa State is a good fit at all. I guess at least Syracuse won't be the worst football team in the Big East anymore.

I think the bigger story is that the Big East is looking to expand and be proactive.

Basketball would need to go to two 10 team divisions. Of coarse that would take care of itself if those ritards Rutgers and Cuse would leave.

Iowa State says they are talking to Big East.

That report also claims Kansas, Kansas St. and MISSOURI are talking to the Big East... Mizzou is the crown jewel of that group, imo... with Kansas then Kansas St. following close behind. Those three would be good additions on the football end, imo... obviously it would simply stack the basketball side to an all time epic level.

It would make the Big East Championship more sought after than the National Title and the NBA title.

I am very pleased to see the Big East going after schools and not just sitting back. I really hope Rutgers and maybe one or two others do leave.

I'd like to keep St. Johns, simply due to their basketball history...and it's nice to have a team UC can beat once in awhile.

However, Depaul (good history, but not in NY).....can go.

I have a growing feeling that there is going to be some sort of split in basketball. I dont know if that means football schools start a seperate conference or start a basketball and football divisions for hoops.

This is what I think happens (if this certain scenario occurs)...the basketball teams and football teams split. Basketball teams keep the Big East name and add Xavier, Dayton, UMass, and another to go to 12 teams. The football schools (minus Rutgers & 1 other team at least) add the Big 12 castoffs, Kansas, KState, IState, even Baylor, (and Mizzou if the bIg 10 doesn't take them and opts for a 3rd Big East School). Then the new football league has to add at least 2 more members to go to 12....Memphis & UCF or ECU or Temple.

Probably won't happen that way since so many variables exist, but ti would be a proactive approach to keeping the Big East football teams (now the Great Midwest Conference again...) together.

of course, you could spend all day coming up with scenarios. ;)

Yeah I heard this one that would be AWESOME.

Football splits.

Two divisions are:

East: WVU, Pitt, Rutgers, USF, UCONN, Cuse

West: Cincy, Missouri, Louisville, K-state, Kansas, ISU

We would dominate that division for years! Of coarse if someone leaves like RU you can replace their spot but you get the idea.

For me the addition of the three teams Missouri, K-State and Kansas is really intriguing... especially Missouri and the brand of basketball/football they play... very exciting.

After this is all done, I can't wait for the first person from the college ranks that says, "This is all about the student athelete"
