Figured we could start up a thread to discuss other teams within the Big East conference.

South Florida is about to lose to UCF to fall to 1-2... ouch.

USF loses 65-59 to UCF.

Pittsburgh survives Maryland tonight in a game where they looked human, but their new big guy Zanna emerged as a real player.

I saw a little bit of that Pitt game, they did not look like a top 5 team last night. IMO I still think Villinova may be the best team in the conference this year.

Big East is not going to be dominate as years past. I think 8 teams get in the dance but we may not even have a FF team.

You never really can tell until March though... last year the Big East was supposed to be the greatest single year in conference of all time and only WVU made it to the final four where they were quickly disposed of... A ton of basketball is left to be played before the dance and you just can't tell how teams will develop. That big guy Zanna looked like a beast for Pitt, I know that much.

I think this could wind up being very favorable to us this year. The Big East seems to be down a bit from previous years and like it or not we have a pretty experienced group of players. If we can build some momentum and our players start to define their roles a little more I think we can really compete for a high finish in the BEAST!

I've watched Pitt twice now and the more I see them play, now and in the past, I truly admire what a good coach Jamie Dixon is. He simply has a great understanding of how to put a basketball team together. Such a good coach. By the way I really like how sound this Pitt team is.

Exactly. They aren't flashy and they don't have the greatest talent but they are year to year a team through and through and it's very intriguing to see how this team will develop.

Seton Hall:

Do all UC fans a favor- BEAT XAVIER.

XU and Seton Hall play in the second round of the Paradise Jam Sunday evening.

USF picked up a win today over Georgia South to go to 2-2.

Rutgers notched a good win today over Miami (FL), they are now 2-1.

Syracuse ESCAPED today vs. William and Mary, winning 63-60. It was tied at 60 with a minute to play. The Orange are now 4-0.

Three good games later on tonight:

Georgetown and NCST play at 7:30 on ESPNU.

WVU plays Minnesota in the Puerto Rico Tip Off Championship at 7:30 on ESPN2.

And Seton Hall plays Xavier at the Paradise Jam at 8:30.

Casey Mitchell... has this kid grown up? He's playing out of his mind for Huggs in this Puerto Rico tournament.

Lets see how much Seton Hall regresses with out Hazell, maybe if they do pretty good its a better omen for UC having lost 2 of its top scorers who took a ton of shots...

It really has no bearing on how this UC team adapts because they had an offseason to prepare for not having Deonta and Lance. Seton Hall expected to have Hazell all year. It would have been similar if UC lost Deonta part way through the season.

Xavier wins 57-52 over Seton Hall.

Without Holloway, that team is 1-3 instead of 4-0. They are a team that will have SERIOUS issues scoring points this year.

Regardless lets see how good they do with out there top scorer who takes a ton of shots. I think they did pretty good and yes Cincy had all year to prepare. Seton Hall also only lost one of there top scorers Cincy lost two. Didnt mean to get in depth just trying to give confidence to UC,s Fans...

And just think, Mick said he passed on Holloway because he didn't think it was fair to him. How much better would UC look with him running the point right now.

-UCONN scored the upset of Mich. St. last night, 70-67. They are now 4-0 and face Kentucky today in the Maui Championship game.

-Providence was handed their first loss of the season, at home, versus La Salle, 84-73.

-Marquette was nipped by Gonzaga, 66-63. Rough match ups for The Golden Eagles In Kansas City. First Duke and then The Bulldogs.

-With Providence's loss there are now 8 remaining unbeaten's in the Big East Conference. Pitt leads the way at 6-0... and your Bearcat's are 3-0! (To be 4-0 after tonight!)
