BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

Yeah I've been sucked in too. It's really frustrating because I would much rather just talk about Bearcat Basketball.

I also have been told that is not Longtimer by someone that checked on it. I simply do not believe it. It HAS to be him.

It is him, he changed ISP's. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck, paddles like a duck, IT IS A DUCK.

Guys let' be honest. There is a segment of people who are going to rip this current program every single chance they get. They lie low and soon as anything handy comes up they beat it like a drum. I never even look at BCN anymore.

To be realistic, Mr. Bearcat who many are referring to was not ripping the program. He was very optimistic on this year's team but definately had his opinions on the past. I am still one that is in the "show me" mode. I have supported this coach and the program consistantly on the other board but for me it is definately "show me" time now. I just don't think we can base the season's success on what they have done so far. I don't think that is any different than what Mr. Bearcat was doing. I just don't have the time and energy to argue to that degree. :D

^^^Please, Please, Please lets not discuss Mr. Bearcat, I mean Longtimer, on this site any longer. Let him stay at BCN and pollute that site. The lack of his type of poster on this site makes Bearcattalk enjoyable.

Scores of note today:

Pittsburgh gets pounded by Tennessee, 83-76- it wasn't quite that close.

Notre Dame recovers from their loss to UK by beating Gonzaga, 83-79.

Rutgers picks up a decent victory over Auburn, 63-54.

Providence beats Alabama, 82-70 to improve to 10-2.

Marquette loses at home to Wisconsin- they've faced three real tests this year and lost all three, they are now 7-3.

*Sidenote* Oklahoma beat Oral Roberts tonight to get back to .500 at 5-5.

DePaul loses to Ball St. in OT... they are terrible- just terrible.

St. John's loses to Fordham. They are now 5-3... any chance at a bid in the tournament is slipping away. That's two bad losses for the Johnnies already and they've got to play Duke still in addition to Big East play.

*Sidenote* Miami (OH) and Wright St. won tonight to get to 5-5 on the year... they play each other next before Miami's matchup with the 'Cats... so either the Raiders or the 'Hawks are going to get another win in that one.

*Sidenote* Even Georgia Southern, UC's opponent on Tuesday night, got a win tonight (all be it against a team without even a page or logo on ESPN lol)... good night for UC in the RPI department, save for Dayton's loss to Old Dominion. That would have helped a lot. IPFW is 7-2(2-0) after their win tonight. Knew they were a solid team after their game with the 'Cats... they should win 20 games this year.

Villanova is losing midway through the second half right now at LaSalle... a loss to Tennessee is forgive able and while LaSalle should be a decent team this year losses like this one will be a detriment to 'Nova's seed come selection sunday.

Update: Villanova hangs on to win 84-81.

The OOC schedule is just about finished, here are the Big East overall standings as of Wednesday Morning:

Syracuse 12-0
Cincinnati 11-0
Connecticut 9-0
Pittsburgh 11-1
Georgetown 10-1
Notre Dame 10-1
Louisville 9-1
Villanova 9-1
Providence 11-2
Rutgers 8-2
West Virginia 8-2
Marquette 9-3
St. John's 7-3
Seton Hall 6-4
South Florida 6-6
DePaul 5-6

Full slate of action Wednesday:

-UCONN is taking on a 7-2 Harvard team.

-Syracuse plays an 8-1 Drexel team that handed UofL their first loss.

-Pitt plays 7-4 American.

-UofL going to Western Kentucky to battle the Hilltoppers.

-USF goes to Cleveland St. where they will most likely get embarrassed.

-The highlight game of the evening if Drexel can't hang with Syracuse could end up being the Dayton @ Seton Hall game.

Dayton beat Seton Hall tonight 69-65 at Seton Hall.

That gives the Hall a 6-5 record now and they are all but out of the NCAA tournament picture. That also gives Dayton a 10-3 record and suddenly that win is looking pretty good for the 'Cats...

Indiana loses again tonight.

Notre Dame holds serve at home and defeats UCONN.

Pitt survives on the road and beats Providence.

Once again the Big East is going to beat up on itself all winter long. I don't see any team in the conference that can run the table or even finish with 1-2 losses. Pittsburgh and Syracuse are very good but they are certainly beatable.

Agreed, the winner will be lucky if they only lose 2/3 games. I really like our depth and how we can compete with all the BEAST teams from what I have seen (I have watched every beast team at least 2x). Also does anyone know how much our OOC SOS will jump once we play Xavier? I would assume we go to the 270's or so?

Pitt won their first road game tonight. The SOS will take a drastic drop over the next 2 weeks.

Great Saturday schedule in the Big East this weekend:

Pittsburgh @ Rutgers

UofL @ UCONN

Georgetown @ Villanova

Syracuse @ Marquette

West Virginia @ Cincinnati
