If they can keep 8 football playing members.

I am looking for more information on this. Just all over twitter.

"There's been a lot of talk about the Big East losing its bid,'' said one highly placed college official with knowledge of the BCS requirements."But as long as the conference maintains at least an 8 team membership for football the contract is iron clad for two years and there is also a two-year grace period which extends it through the 2015 season. If the Big East can field an 8 team league it's secure with its BCS bid until at least 2016.''

Interesting. Maybe it delays the inevitable but that gives UC and Big East 5 years to enjoy BCS conference and establish itself.

I still think it is going to be next to impossible to take the bid from the Big East for reasons we have hashed out before. That said, knowing you have that bid for 5 years is enough to entice some of these programs like Boise, UCF, AF, and Houston to have to at least think twice before turning down the opportunity to join the Big East. People will ask, "Why would Boise do it?" Three reasons:

1. Money - They will make more money in the Big East

2. AQ Status - People will say that Boise doesn't have to worry about it right now and they can just win every game on their schedule and make it to a BCS game. That leaves no room for error and they aren't going to have Kellen Moore forever. Joining the Big East gives Boise the ability to lose a game or two and still make it to a BCS game. It takes away the uncertainty factor that they currently have.

3. Recruiting - Being in a BCS AQ conference helps recruiting. Look at what it has done for UC. Boise gets good players but they will still get more looks from players knowing that they have a legitimate shot at a National Title every year and for sure a shot at winning the Big East to get to a BCS game.

The Big East will not lose its AQ status.

The BCS rules provide for 6 AQ Conferences, the rules provide a formula to determine who the 6 AQ Conferences will be based on a 4 year lookback.

There are 11 BCS Conferences, the 6 everyone knows about and the MAC, Sunbelt, WAC, Mountain West, and C-USA. All of the 120 schools in the NCAA FBS (Division 1) are BCS Schools. All 11 Conferences are on the BCS committee and have agreed to the rules. When the formula is computed for the next go round, after the 2013 season, there is no way the MAC, Mountain West, C-USA, Sunbelt, or WAC will surpass the Big East to take over 6th place.

I didn't know that there HAD to be 6 aq conferences. Is this true, or just one of your made up facts?

I know that there either has been talk, or it has been made official that the BCS will take away the rule that only allows 2 teams from the same conference to make a bcs bowl game.

SEC President said he would like to see that. BCS president says he would consider it. I would say the Big East is safe to keep bid. I think you will see additional BCS games. Cotton Bowl and maybe 1 other.

You will see one additional BCS game and a plus 1 for the National Championship. That is my prediction.

ESPN has decided Boise, Air Force, and Navy will join the Big East for football only and UCF will join for all sports.

So basically, what you are saying is if Boise doesn't join the Big East, than ESPN doesn't run college sports like you claimed in the post above?
