I don't know if people are placing enough emphasis on this. This is beyond incredible. Some blind haters of the Big East will claim we have so many teams that it really isn't that impressive. I will laugh if anyone tries to claim this is not the best conference in the history of college basketball.

HAVING SAID THAT do you guys see a final four team? I am not sure. I think we could have 9 or 10 second round teams, 6 sweet 16 teams, 2 elite 8 teams and maybe not a final 4 team.

I think once again we have the best conference by far but not the best team.

Besides the point though. 11 Big East teams is still a reality. I am really interested if they leave Marquette out to limit the teams.

There are no elite teams in the Big East this year- but that doesn't mean one (or two) can't get hot and make a run at the final four. I just don't see anyone making a run at a national title.

$238 after fees for Cleveland per ticket....I have gone to the NCAA tourney every year mostly for quite some time now. It has gotten really expensive the last 4 years. A noticiable increase for sure.

Is that for every session or just the session the Bearcats would be in? Also, is that for both days? If you are getting 4 or 5 games for that price, it isn't too bad.

I think when Pitt is hitting on all cylinders they can make a final four run. I will never count a Rick Pitino team out of the tournament. It all comes down to momentum and who is playing well and shooting well at the right time. Two weeks ago Texas looked like the best team in America. 3 weeks ago everyone had written UC off as a tournament team. The way this Bearcat team plays defense, if they can get a couple guys hot from the outside at the same time, they could make a mini run. Not to the final four, but maybe an elite 8. It's all about timing in this tournament. The best teams do not always win.

I would add that it is all about matchups too. Not only do you have to be playing good ball at the right time, you have to get a bit lucky too. If UC makes it as a 6 seed and gets put in a bracket with BYU as the 2 seed, they could have a real shot. It would depend on who is the 3 seed but outside of a handful of teams, I think UC can play with anybody when they are focused. The worst possible matchups for UC are teams that shoot really well from 3. ND, UCONN are just a couple games where 3 pointers hurt us big time. How many of those teams are out there, though? Not too many. We can play with anyone athletically and inside. If we are making shots, we are tough to beat.

I would argue that motivation, or lack thereof, was the cause of those outcomes. The threes were a result of the effort. When this team plays hard it has proven it can compete and beat anybody.

Agree wholeheartedly Jeff, the open looks were there because of the effort, not anything else.

Part of the reason tickets are so expensive is due to them being two games. One session is two games--if UC makes it on and you want to go to the second round game- you could get a solid deal off teams who lost that had tickets for the second round match up. Happens every game...you will see tons of people trying to sell tickets after every game.

As for Big East getting 11 in- I was debating this with some friends. Is that more impressive then when the Big 10 got 7 teams in? 11/16 or 7/11? Impressive regardless.

That's a fair assessment. That said, good shooting teams are still the ones that terrify me. The last few years, teams with good post players ate us up. This year, this team has been able to hold it's own down low. Scoring is the issue. As long as they play good, motivated defense, they will have a chance. If they allow a good shooting team open looks from deep, this team will not have the firepower to out score them.

I say bring on whoever. If they are good shooting teams, Gates will destroy them inside, if they are tough inside our beasts will out beast them. if they are good at both, then chances are there national title contender. No one Scares this squad and everyone no matter who it is will let out a "shit" when they find out they have us in the first round. Defense wins championships and no one can defend the way we can added with a sloppy play. GO UC!!!!!

It's all sessions. 4 games on Friday, 2 on Sunday. And it is the most fun you will have all year just about. ;)

That's not too bad really. It comes out to $39.67 per game. A little pricey but as long as you are not up in the nose bleeds, not too bad.

The closest first round sites are in Cleveland and Chicago. Hopefully the Cats will get put in one of those regions. If not I certainly wouldn't mind a trip out to Colorado or Arizona this time of year!

IF they get put in one of the closer regions- Cleveland, Chicago (maybe even Charlotte or Washington D.C.) I'm considering making the trip. It would be cool if the Bearcattalk members that go got together.

That's a good idea. More than likely I will only be able to go if it is in Cleveland but who knows. I'll have to see where they end up.
