The Big Ten has asked Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Rutgers to the Big Ten. What does everyone think? I think the Big East will be just fine if this is the case. I also think they are expecting probably Notre Dame to turn them down. Wouldn't that put them at 15 teams if all four accepted which I would think they would ask one more team to get to 16 teams. It will interesting to see how this plays out.

If they go to 14, the BigEast will remain solid.

If they go to 16, the BigEast might take a hit.

Rutgers isn't a stubstantial loss (average in football, bad in basketball) and Notre Dame has played the Big East as a loser since its inclusion (all sports in BE besides football).

As many have mentioned, I'd like to see if we can't cherry pick an ACC team (Boston College?) and add UCF, depending on what teams defect.

I could definitely see Boston College leaving the ACC. I have heard multiple times that they have not been happy since they left the Big East. I think that would be a great pickup for the Big East.

They may have offered, but it doesn't mean it's finalized. Recruits get offered, then denied later. I would call it a soft offer unless I hear different. If they could find a way to get Texas, ND, and another team to join the Big10, then it would trump the above by about 10 fold.
I could see Texas and ND possibly joining if they get specific allowances given them. But who knows.

I honestly don't think anything is official until the school and the BigDigit comes to an agreement. Until then, there will be a state of flux with them vying for ND. Everything else is probably secondary, to be honest. Nebraska would help with ratings to be sure, but the rivalries are virtually non-existent...and would be manufactured.

Andy Katz was on some ESPN program discussing this and said he had a source who has direct contact with this whole thing say "Think outside the Box" in terms of possible other teams. Teams mentioned were Maryland, GT, and Vandy. I would love to watch the tripple option in the Big Ten. Easily my second or third favorite team

I can't wait until all this is settled and done with. I hate listening to all these scenarios, yet I can't turn away because of my passion for the Bearcats. The initial reports aren't that bad, only possibly losing Rutgers, but I know this is far from over.

Texas, ND, and another team would be a homerun. Recruiting and tv wise, it wouldn't get much better than this. May not happen if they want too much in concessions, but those two would be enough to only add to 14, and stay away from the much dredded 16. I would guess ND fans would warm up to the offer if Texas was in.

I just don't see Texas going to the Big10. They have it made in the B12, getting the largest share of pro-rated TV dollars. What's more, the league is top heavy at the top and there are some really weak sisters in the bottom half of the league. Going to a 16 team B10 that includes OSU, PSU, Michigan, ND, Wisconsin, Nebraska seems to be making your path to a BCS bowl game every year too difficult. What's more, I am sure the folks at OSU and Michigan aren't too happy about this as to them-- the B10 is OSU and Michigan. There is no room for anyone else.

What's more, Texas to the B10 sounds great for football and basketball, but I can't see anyone being to excited down in Texas about going to the women's softball game up in Minnesota or Wisconsin in March.

Texas stays in the B12 IMHO.

Not if ND and Texas play less teams each year, say like 6 or 7, and play another same amount OOC. If the Big11 is willing to concede some (which they would benefit greatly by doing so), it would surpass the SEC in terms of prestige. Why wouldn't Texas and ND want to be in the best conference, especially if they could still play their OOC games. Michigan, OSU, Texas, ND, and PSU could set it up so that they play two out of the four every other year. That leaves Texas with the possibility of playing OK every year, and ND facing USC every year or every other year. It's not only doable, but the tv contract would be a killer.
