People will bitch about somebody on another team getting a more severe suspension but I think they got it right.

I will say I think people calling for year long suspensions are crazy. I play in a sunday night league that has scrums all the time.

You are WAY off on this one. Your Xavier colors are really shining through.

How so? Who deserved more or less? Tu is a punk but he didnt do anything that warranted a longer suspension IMO. I could see Lyons getting more sense he throw a haymaker and didn't connect but I feel 2 is ok. I could see Cheik getting more but he missed and I thought it was fair. I will say that I am surprised that Ellis got so much for swinging and missing a lot.

I guess my only thought is, is it better to swing and miss? the intentions are still there and lyons and wells were swinging more than anyone back in the corner. I really believe the blantant thing everyone is missing here also is that the refs didn't get any suspension.

Tu is the reason this whole thing started. His talking and push to the face of Guyn started this whole thing. His comments after were atrocious and deserved a game just for them. Lyons appeared to be throwing punches in the videos I watched but he just didn't connect. Ellis didn't connect on his but he got the same as Gates because he threw punches. XU has always been weak on this kind of thing. See Holloway last year re: Shootout Punch.

I understand your arguements Jason but I think people could argue that Cheik deserved more for trying to hit a Frease when he was down. Yancy did connect and threw another punch after that.

You can make an arguement that both sides should have been tougher. I do not think anyone has ever told me my Xavier colors were showing! lol

Ellis got 6 games for throwing, but not landing punches. Lyons got 2 games for the same offense. Yawn.

Xaviers suspensions are weak.

what discipline is Frease going to receive...not only did he approach the UC bench in the scrum (just like everyone else), he threatened the family of a UC coach...and Lyons...i respect him for settling Gates down but that does not erase the multiple punches he threw and his action throughout the game...in the end, i like UC and Micks approach to the discipline, especially the work in the community portion...Mick and UC has really made a strong effort to show the importance of integrity...too bad it cannot be said for all schools...i know for sure that Prosser and even Sean Miller would have represented their school more appropriately...and xavier can stop with the "thugs" comments...ever since Mack has been there, they are replicating "Huggin's Thugs" as they like to call it...

I think getting socked on national TV by your personal biggest rival is punishment enough.

I actually thought UC went very heavy on Ellis.

maybe frease will learn from this like he did when he headbutt Gates and when he stomped the other kid...i am sure national recognition of getting knocked out really humbled the kid...humbled him enough to then further rant and threaten UC fans...definitely a lesson learned...

Maybe he didnt learn his lesson but got some punishment for sure. Lying on your back after your biggest personal rival punched you sticks with you.

It will stick with Gates too. His rep will never recover. Can you imagine him trying to get a real job in Cincy? Same with Tu honestly.

I'm just throwing this out there and not sure how I feel about it...

I work with a kid who played under Tubby at UK. He is predicting that this will help UC out in recruiting.

He said UC was the school to go to, but you havent heard much out of them in recently other than signing Lance. Something like this has put them back in the national spotlight, albeit a bad one.

I'm hoping not thugz, but good quality recruits

We shall see

That's a reach, but as the saying goes, any publicity is good publicity.

I thought that was a nice touch. :D

The whole idea that landing a punch is worse than throwing one and missing is backwards to me, that's why I agree with Ellis and Gates getting the same time. My biggest point in this is that the UC players were wrong in their actions, but I think its important to realize these were reactions and not causes. The UC players/bench did not start this altercation and throwing punches in a melee is different than going out and punching someone to start something. That's why I think 6 games is fair. It's stiff enough that it will hurt the team and the players, but missing a whole season because you were defending your teammates just seems to be a stretch to me.

Mark Amazon said on WLW last night after the UC game that God has decided to punish X with a plague of locusts and losses for the lenient punishment given to Tu Holloway and the rest of the Gangsters.
