I don't think Shaq deserves more minutes than Morman . Shaq 3 pts /0 rbds/ 0 assists it's like he isn't on the floor. You at least know Morman's in the game.

Both of them hardly saw the court. Larry Davis just called Shaq out for no rebounds during the postgame. Once Shaq learns he has to rebound he will see more minutes. No more getting a free pass because he's a junior. Its up to him if he wants more minutes, IMO.

Did anybody else think the court that UCF plays on is awful? It made it really hard to watch.

Yes. They would show shots of the arena from the outside, I would say, "what a nice looking arena". Then show inside and I say, " my god, how ugly can an arena be?!"

Some notes from the game.

Yes the court is ugly...i was there!

I was impressed when Ellis was the calming force during the escalation point before a potential brawl. Well done!

TC didn't have his best game but he is really becoming a leader out there. He also made some things happen late in the game when he attacked the rim.

KJ is starting to prove to be the 4th best man on our roster over the past 6 games or so. It's a good thing our coaches aren't as impatient as some of our fans. I am now starting to think we are at a disadvantage when he's on the bench. Some stats to follow...

Agreed! Johnson has quietly improved since the start of conference play.

KJ first 13 games vs last 6...

Points...5.4...8.8
3%....27...41
FT%...69...89
Assists...(.85)...1.5
TO's...1.85...(.5)
Steals...(.77)...1.33
Rebounds...1.15...1.66

His minutes are up 3.5/game. If we can get similar production the rest of the year we will be in business

I know a lot of people have been down on Quadri Moore, but this guy is going to be a matchup nightmare for opposing coaches before his career at UC is over. The kid has a really smooth stroke. It just seems like right now he tends to dribble himself into a worse shot. It's probably freshman jitters. Who was the last guy at the 4/5 position to shoot over 35% from the 3-point line for UC? Dontonio?? I could see Moore accomplishing this in the future.

Honestly Moore worries me the most of all the guys on the roster because I've yet to see multiple moments where I say "yep he's a Bearcat". He seemingly, in my eyes, does not even know our simple offense because I see him in the most awkward places too often. He's a freshman so by no means an indictment on his career, I just want to see a lot more.

I'd argue that today was his best game defensively. He was in the mix a lot more. He was able to get out to the 3 point line (not just in the corner). And he was looking for someone to block out, rather than get sucked too far under the basket like he did early in the year. It seems like he is looking to have an active role while he's out there. I think he will be a big part of our team as an upperclassman and will even be a key reserve as we go through the rest of this year.

I agree, but he shouldn't see minutes right now. He's eating into Cory's time, and Cory's playing at a pretty high-level. I wouldn't mind seeing him redshirt next year if Mick can sell it. All our bigs are back, and if Shaq's got a future on this team, it's at the four. Quadri needs major work on his defense.

I've liked his offense at the four these past two games. When he's on the floor with three shooters it's hard to help on his dribble drive and the four can't match him in quickness. That ten-foot leaner is his money shot. Shaq v. Kasey Wilson is the matchup you want all day.

But, it only works if he rebounds. Right now, he's standing under the hoop and trying to tip the ball to teammates. My nephew's third-grade team uses better form when boxing out.

KJ's shot continues to look better and better. He took 1 bad 3 today from way too far out, but still ended 3-7 from 3. We'll take that every day (4-4 from FT line too).

It's weird, but he did the exact same thing last year. He was 17.1 PER in conference play, after struggling enormously at the beginning. If we can get that kind of production from him moving forward, along with Troy's leadership, come the post-season, I think this could be Mick's best team.

Yesterday was a very ugly win, but one that will provide important growth for this team. Fortunately, their best player was taken out of the game early and down the stretch they played incredibly stupid when they had us reeling and looking like we were ready to fold. In the end, we pulled it together in the last minute or so and came away with a double digit win. Double digit wins on the road always look good, so in a day or so, nobody wil care or remember about the details.

We still have players going in different directions though. Some improve. Others go backwards. I guess this is the way young teams go. It would be nice to see the majority of the players on the same path as we get close to March. But, for now, this was a nice victory to build on. I thought Morman really played well in the first half and I was highly disappointed that he didn't get any time in the second half, especially when the others weren't playing particularly well.

Moore was in for Clark in the 1st half. So that didn't eat into DeBerry's minutes. Not sure I agree DeBerry is at a pretty high level either. Imo he's just right as a backup C for Ellis.

KJ and Caupain were our best players in the 2nd half. And KJ stayed out of foul trouble. I'm sure that's why Morman didn't play 2nd half.
