I agree, but he shouldn't see minutes right now. He's eating into Cory's time, and Cory's playing at a pretty high-level. I wouldn't mind seeing him redshirt next year if Mick can sell it. All our bigs are back, and if Shaq's got a future on this team, it's at the four. Quadri needs major work on his defense.

Are you really talking about Quadri redshirting NEXT year? IF Mick can sell it? That makes no sense and has no chance of happening. Why would Mick have any interest in "selling" that idea? Terrible idea. Just terrible. Plus, Shaq will play 3. Evans won't take all the minutes there.

Moore was in for Clark in the 1st half. So that didn't eat into DeBerry's minutes. Not sure I agree DeBerry is at a pretty high level either. Imo he's just right as a backup C for Ellis.

Deberry: 104.2 ORtg w/22.2% USG, 91.0 DRtg, 17.7 PER
Gates Senior Yr: 110.1 ORtg w/21.5 USG, 93.8 DRtg, 20.7 PER

Cory's not quite at Yancy's senior year level; but, he's not that far away. He's also second on team in effective field goal percentage. Moore is now last on the team in PER at 10.0.

You can absolutely play Cory and Oct at the same time. Just shift Oct to the four. Cory's play warrants 15-20 minutes except in situations where there is a major quickness disadvantage.

You think Oct and Gary will play less next year? Cory's returning. And, the smart move is to continue bulking Shaq up, because he's not an effective three. Forget about Evans, I've seen enough of Morman to believe that he's going to eat a lot of time at the three next year.

Mick talks about how he regretted not redshirting Jaquon his sophmore year. It's a smart move, why waste a year on a talented developing player? But, you have to convince the player it's for the best, without convincing him to transfer.

0% chance of using a redshirt on Moore next year if he is healthy. Not even worth talking about it. (It wasn't even worth talking about it going into this year)

DeBerry has had his chances. He has played 91 minutes in the last 8 games. But since conference play has started, his fouls have gone way up. He had 8 fouls in his first 102 minutes (11 games). But since then, he has 17 fouls in 91 minutes (8 games). He is a clear backup on this team. He can't give us 20 solid minutes a night. And we can't play him with Ellis together bc we can't risk getting both our C in foul trouble.

Disagree totally with you on this one. There was no excuse for him only getting 8 minutes yesterday. Yesterday was the perfect opponent to get him plenty of playing time due to their size inside. LD totally mismanaged the playing time yesterday, especially with Morman and Deberry. Nobody played lights out in the 2nd half. These two should have gotten some minutes.

DeBerry might have played more if McBride had been in the game. But he wasn't. In conference play, the starters play (especially in the 2nd half) unless they need a quick break or are in foul trouble. Simple as that. That is just the life of a bench player. LD was talking about that last week...these guys have to play well when they're in whether it is for 2 minutes or 25 minutes. But they aren't going to be called on to close out the game. Imo it is hard to argue against having Ellis, TC, KJ, Clark and Sanders on the floor at this point when we're trying to lock down a conference road win. I like Morman, but he just simply isn't going to be in there in key moments if the starters are good to go.

I think Sanders has given this team a HUGE boost since he has become a starter. He has played better defense than I thought he was capable of and he has become a great rebounder in the past few games. Along with his timely three's, I think he is becoming THE glue guy of this bearcat team.

There's no basketball rule on the planet that says starters have to play the second half. I've seen Clark disappear on the bench for most of the second half in some games. We've seen Shaq start all year and not play much in the second half. It depends on the situation. Those that played the second half yesterday were trying hard to give that game away. Had it been almost any other opponent, they would have suceeded in doing so. UCF was without their best player and played incredibly stupid down the stretch or we would have been here very sad or mad today.

The starters were sucking it up in the first half as well until LD inserted Morman, Moore, etc. and the energy level kicked way up and we went on a nice run to grab the lead. You can always take them back out quickly if they don't perform, but to not give them a chance to play after they played so well in the first half, and with the starters struggling as well, was not real smart.

We ended up winning by 10 bc KJ hit a couple big 3s and made all of his FT and Caupain took over and got to the basket a couple times and made all but 1 of his FT. Sanders has played well since entering the starting lineup and is a senior and our go to inbound passer. No way Morman was playing over any of those guys in crunch time. 2nd half of the season you need to stick as close to the top of the depth chart as possible, especially on the road. Plus, the starters played excellent defense the entire 2nd half. We couldn't afford a lapse from Morman on that end.

PG - Caupain, Cobb
SG - KJ, Cobb, Morman
SF - Sanders, Shaq, Morman
PF - Clark, Moore, Shaq
C- Ellis, DeBerry

As the season goes on and everyone finds their role, there becomes less and less of a reason to experiment. It seems like the staff is pretty comfortable with the 5 starters and Cobb as the 6th man. So when we need to win a game, we aren't going to use backups in the 2nd half for extended minutes unless there is foul trouble. The way this team will continue to improve is for everyone to continue to have a defined role. If LD is just flying off the seat of his pants and using random lineups at all times, we'll never get where we want to go. Again, good for Morman and Moore and those guys for being ready to play, but they did their job. And the starters did theirs. That's how you pull out conference road games.

are you trying to say that you're sanders?

Here's the bottom line. We won the game and you will always be able to claim your opinion was the right one and I can't prove otherwise. We won't agree here so we should move on. All I can say in the end is that we won in spite of some of the coaching decisions yesterday. Our team has no studs. We have nobody scoring in double figures. Conventional wisdom gets thrown out the window when it comes to our team and going with the hot hand becomes way more applicable. But again, we won so lets move on to argue this point another day.

I can see where you're coming from, I think we can agree to disagree and move on.

I have done some flip flopping so far this season at the 2 and 3 about who needs to be in there. I think LD has settled in on the most effective starting lineup. We have two starters now who can shoot the 3 (decent) and that helps open up the inside out game. Thomas and Morman are not able to provide that. Cobb can but he has proven to be streaky. If he is streaky we can just wait for him to get hot and then keep him in there longer.

We need to pass it inside and let the defense decide whether to collapse or not and then kick it out or take a shot around the bucket accordingly.
