I agree with the first part. I'm not so sure I agree with the second part. I think Mick has and will always publicly back his players but I don't think he is quite so "coddling" in practice or behind closed doors. Of course, it is all speculation on both of our parts so, it is what it is.

I'm actually very excited for next year because I see us having a 7 or 8 player rotation which I think will actually improve the team offensively. Here is who I see playing next year:

Clark
Caupain
Evans
Washington
Johnson
Cumberland
Scott
Jenifer (unless improves jump shot, limited minutes to give Troy a short rest)

I think this squad has the potential to be very good offensively. Clark will take another step forward offensively. Caupain will have a big year. Evans is probably the most gifted offensive player on the team and is starting to show that down the stretch. Cumberland is a straight scorer and there is no reason to think he can't do that at the next level.
I think you'll see another wing added and a big as a Grad transfer. Possibly even a PG.

I hope that's true. One of my buddies has been to a bunch of KU practices and he says Self just screams and cusses the whole time lol. You wouldn't necessarily know he's like that based on his demeanor in most games. But he goes by the philosophy that practice is for teaching and games are not.

Cronin isn't going anywhere. I just hope he stops coddling his players so much. UC doesn't owe any of them a basketball career.
agree Mick isn't going anywhere but from people who have seen his practices he is anything but coddling. What he displays publicly is often not indicative of what really goes on behind the scenes. That holds true for many coaches.

I believe this is the norm for most coaches, including Mick and this staff.

My father has attended some( probably 5-6 in the last couple of seasons) practices due to being a sponsor the Cats for some years and he has said that Cronin uses some colorful language during practices. He said by the way he acts in the media you would never suspect it but he yells/ curses during the entire practice.

Yea you read his lips when he's yelling at the refs and I'm surprised he doesn't get T'd up more often. Then you listen to his half time interviews and its a different dude (humble country boy sounding). I still vividly remember hearing him yell "what the fuck are you looking at bitch?" at the first uconn game i went to. Gotta say thats when i gained some respect for coach, haha

Mick's last 3 recruiting classes in the best basketball conference of all-time.

2010 Kelvin Gaines-Justin Jackson

2011 Jeremiah Davis-Octavius Ellis-Gelawn Guyn-Cheikh Mbodj-Jermaine Sanders-Shaq Thomas

2012 Titus Rubles

This was quite a recruiting haul with the allure of the best basketball conference ever to sell to recruits.

Yeah I'd rather have him recruit a top 25 player like jermaine Lawrence and a top 100 player like quadri Moore(sarcasm)......

Oh snap. We better not recruit Top 100 players anymore!

Maybe that area of the country is overrated.

Very bad loss for bubbly Vanderbilt losing to Tennessse who has been seeded similarly to UC (9-11). That loss probably puts them in danger, thankfully for us, a loss to UConn wouldn't be THAT bad.

Just saying Troy caupain and Jacob Evans were not top 100 recruits and are two of our top 3 players, are best player we have recruited in the last 5 years according to ESPN rankings and rivals rankings is jermaine Lawrence and wow he paid dividends for us.

Yes I would like to recruit good players but people make way to big of a deal of ratings.

I'm not sure why this is even in question. Has anyone paid attention to Cronin during a game or sat down low by him? He non-stop chews his guys out and cusses at them in games (and refs) constantly. I often wonder how these kids put up with it. He is anything but coddly with them. The only game thought he seemed out of it was their last loss to Tulsa.

I know people have mentioned they don't see Cronin being as animated on the sideline this year. That's why it got brought up. Plus he has mentioned feeling sorry for his guys after they have a bad game, not worrying about wins and losses, not caring about conference standings, etc. Makes him seem a tad softer. I personally like how he's been on the sideline more this year than any other. It requires the players to provide their own energy.

He's no Bryan Effin Price

So your saying you'd rather be like nc state and score a lot of points and lose.
No. Keep the D, Just better O. Better offensive efficiency. Top 20 D, top 40 O. Jacob has stated many times what the current philosophy gets us - bounced 1st or 2nd Rd usually. Appreciate the dialogue guys. Go Cats!
