#25 in AP poll.

To me that is a sign of respect from the voters.

That's a sign that they realize that the only losses they have are on the road to two teams that don't lose at home. As I keep saying we are 16-2. Some things have been exposed that I trust the coaching staff to fix. All part of the growth process.

The RPI ranking is up to # 51 today. Everytime UC has lost this year the RPI ranking has gone up. Maybe if UC loses all the remaining games their RPI ranking will move up to # 1.

Good, at that rate maybe we can finish middle of the pack in the BE. Your dream. Striving for the best is to much for you to grasp.

UC remaining ranked in the Top 25 is an indication that Mick has brought national respect back to UC, respect that was lost during the end of the Huggins era.

Classic Ralph post.

Immediately people are going to think poorly of this post because of the Huggins reference.

However, his statement is correct about staying in the Top 25 indicating that we are gaining national respect.

Top 25 = Mick bringing national respect back to UC... by your logic its nearly impossible to claim respect was lost during the Huggins era, he was in the Top 25 year in and year out. Your wrong again.

~"John Riek will bring a national championship to uc"

I gotta admit, I'm pretty shocked they stayed in the Top 25. They deserve it, but another loss this week will definately drop them out. 2 wins and they'll be back in the ESPN Poll too.

UC deserves to stay in the top 25. They do need a win this week on the road. It'll quiet the doubters. Now to Ralph's post.

Whether you like Bob Huggins or not UC was a perennial Top 25, sometimes top 10 team. They were not only respected they were feared because of their effort and tenacity. I actually thought a year before the Nancy/Huggins incident that it was time for UC to move on. The national perception made it difficult to recruit and the player issues were tiresome. However, nobody can dismiss the fact that Bob Huggins is a great coach. I believe he is the 5th winningness active coach and has won everywhere and been to 2 final fours. He restored UC to prominence. That was lost in how the administration handled his dismissal.

Mick took over a horrible situation and is restoring what was lost. It's admirable what he has done under the circumstances. I hope he has continued success this season and is here for a long time. If he isn't, he has laid a strong foundation for future success. The program is in worlds better shape than when he came in. I admire and respect that and the people nationally that are worth their salt do too. I will never understand those that think you have to hate one to like the other. I like them both.

Great post. I also like them both, but after 5 years Huggins coaches for a rival school. He is no different that Pitino, Calhoun, or Dixon. At this point I can't understand the thought process of those that still have his picture for their avatar. UC is the school we root for, not Huggins. Those that still admire Huggins can easily follow WVU.

How does a team start the game on a 19-0 run and then give up the next 17 points? Only in the Big East.

Dick Vitale says 11 Big East teams in the NCAA Tourney.

No chance- No chance Big east gets 10 in--committee just wont do that. 9 is possible due to the 3 extra teams. That 9th team (last bubble team) would be in the play in game though.

I agree 11 teams at this point have a shot. 8-9 teams in is not out of the question. Probably 8 tops. Don't think the committee will go higher than 8.

I really think that Cronin has done a wonderful job myself. He was really a no name coach who came here and has got some pretty darn good players. With the success of this years squad and the talent of next years, this will only lift him over the middle of the hill. Cincinnati has a lot of tradition and has put alot of players in the NBA. One big year could turn this program into something it has not been for a while, and thats a final four contender every single year. I always loved Huggins and he will always be an all time favorite. If you have been a UC fan for a while then Huggs has to be one of your favorite..

The committee picks the 37 best at large teams, conference membership is never a consideration, meaning therre is no limit on how many teams from a conference can be picked. Go to NCAA.org to read the rules for selection.

I know the rules, but I also understand they like to build in drama by adding the teams from smaller conferences. The reason I say 8-9 may happen this season is because other power conferences are down while the BEast is so deep. If it's ever going to happen it will be this season. Don't forget, in any given year, a team that finished 8-10 would beat either team participating in the play in game, probably handily but don't get invited. There is a concerted effort to include small conference teams.
