As somebody that didn't get to watch (just the last minute of the first half i was able to get a peek)

why did my guy only get 17 minutes? looks like he was great again.

Gary Clarknis awesome BUT- he makes me crazy the way he gets the ball inside, dribbles, pump fakes like 5 times in 3 seconds gyrates around & finally tries to put the ball up with, by this time, 3 guys on him.

I heard Mick talking after the game saying he always wants to shoot a layup, that he either shoots a 3 or a layup. Coach says he needs to have confidence to shoot a little 6 footer when the other guy is off balance but he always tries to maneuver for a layup. I couldn’t agree more.

Another wonderful night of substitution patterns from Mick. SMFH.

Sidenote: anyone watch Mick during the game? Finger pointing, foot stomping and calling players over to get berated, turning to assistants EVERY time a bad play/ foul occurs.....now multiply what you saw tonight by 10+ years. Its no wonder we havent had a legit PG or Center since 2012. Who wants to deal with this persona?

Our starters need to play 30+ mins per game and be left in regardless of mistakes. Otherwise, put another 1st round exit notch on the belt! This brand of basketball is BORING.

You were silent in the UCLA thread. Makes it hard to take you seriously.

is it going to be silly or was cane super bad defensively or something

Huge boost in the end with Broome. We always seem to have a huge spurt at some point during his minutes. It's almost like the 20.2 PER guy makes a more positive impact than the 12.0 PER guy. Jenifer wasn't bad. But he had a pretty normal game for him. Just keeps us even.

Yeah who wants to be coached. Am I right.

I was super excited to attend my first game this year tonight. I know Cleveland St is a cupcake and the students are on break but Damn.......what a disappointing experience! Aside from the lack of intensity on the court, BB&T arena had zero energy. It's unfortunate that we have so much talent this year, yet are forced to play away from home. It's hard to explain, but the atmosphere has a Wright State caliber of basketball feel to it (for those that live in Dayton and have attended a Raiders game) I can't help but feel that the players feel the lack of enthusiasm and it shows in their play. 5th third can't be completed soon enough!!

On a side note, I am a huge Cane Broome supporter and I truly believe he is and will be the difference maker in the long run. That said.....for those That attended the game (or at least me) Jennifer clearly outplayed Cane tonight. He made some beautiful passes and ran the floor well. Cane looked very passive for whatever reason and Jennifer appeared to be on attack mode.

The entire team looked discombobulated from the opening tip. 3 point shooting looked rushed and shot selection was questionable. It's beyond time to figure out a group of 5 that gel and form chemistry. It truly looked like mid major basketball tonight.

That's one metric that I don't know if they keep track of or even if you really could. But I've watched Duke, UK, UNC play some really bad teams and still play their starters for 30-35 min. Duke could be up by 50 and they will still have a starter or 2 in. Meanwhile we are giving back ups almost half the minutes and then even in some of the games we are giving walk one 5-6 min.
Jon we beat Western Catalina by 51 points and one walk on got 2 minutes and 2 got one minute.

Team really looks challenged offensively when we don't shoot well from the arc.

couldn't agree more. I'm sure there is a very valid reason why we didn't opt for US Bank but after going to one game I won't be heading back accross the river.

I think feeling this way is more just a reflection of our expectations for Jenifer. Don't get me wrong, Jenifer played better last night than he normally has, but I still don't think he was way better than Cane in the game last night. I kinda thought Cane still played better, and their lines were pretty similar.

Jenifer had 3 points on 1-4 shooting (including 1-3 from 3) 7 assts (along with a great pass to Clark early in transition) and only 2 TOs, 2 rbds and 2 steals. That's exactly what I want to see from him.

Cane had 5 points on 1-3 shooting, 6 assists (not including a perfect lob that Cumberland blew) 1 TO, 1 steal and 2 rbds. And that was in 6 less minutes.

Those lines are pretty close to even, Jenifer "played great for him," got 6 extra minutes, and i do agree that Cane wasn't as good as he can play.

If this doesn't explain the problem to Mick, then he's got problems.

It reminds me of a scene in the movie Little Big League, and a struggling, aging former star on the decline of his career in a massive slump finally gets a seeing eye 9 Hopper base hit on a grounder between 1st and 2nd. The kid manager loves this player, gets super excited, cheering and looks at his assistant like "see, he can still do it."

The wise old assistant just matter of fact says "Son, don't you think there's something wrong if you're getting worked up over a seeing eye single."

Sidenote- I don't want to turn this into a bashing Justin thread. He plays hard, seems like a good team guy, and if he continues to knock down catch/shoot open 3's at a decent clip, he's a very very nice backup pg.

I just can't believe we're basically a third of the year into the season and they are still splitting minutes evenly. We really plan on doing this in the tournament?
