I know Coach doesn't care about it right now, but it is a pretty big deal for someone his age to have racked up so many D1 wins. Pretty cool in the Tulsa preview video hearing him talk about getting started.

A friend of ours coached with Mick at Woodward when Damon Flint was at Woodward. He also coached Keith Gregor at Lakota when they won the state in 1992. They came from behind to beat Greg Simpson's Lima team. Mick has come a long way from UC video coordinator under Huggins.

Yeah and considering the rebuild he faced when he first came to town, he's racking them up pretty nicely. He coaches another 20 years or so could see him easily at around 900. I don't see him winning any less than 22ish games for a while. Not too shabby.

Mick was at Lakota too, or your friend?

My friend was at Lakota he has a video of game. Mick wasn't at Lakota. It's funny because my nephew played at Lasalle and Mick's dad Hep was helping out the team.

Coach Cronin

Congrats to our coach! He's put together teams at UC that would she be happy with! Yes it was great when Higgs was the coach, but I like what CC is doing. I'm completely happy with what our coach has accomplished and he's only going to get better! Defense is what's gonna get us far in the tournament!!!

Awesome

Cronin is the youngest coach to 300 wins. He has definitely improved during his tenure here. I am extremely happy with Cronin and this team. I honestly think he can win a title here if he coaches long enough.

Incorrect. He is not the youngest coach to 300 wins. Coach K was 2 years younger. The stat you were looking for is the most wins for an active coach under 45 years old, which is arbitrary and doesn't have much meaning.

Which coach(es) under 50 have more wins?

That's what not what makes it meaningless. What makes it meaningless is that it's a longevity award. Mick was fortunate to get the job at Murray State so early (at just 32 years old). If you want to develop a valid comparison to coaches would be to take a coaches first 14 seasons and see how many wins they have.

I was legitimately asking.

What makes it meaningless (in your mind) is that it doesn't fit your agenda. The reason this is such an impressive feat is because of what Cronin endured early at UC. To still have a win percentage near 66% playing in the Big East, with 1 scholarship player in year one and taking your lumps, just shows the caliber of coach Cronin and his staff. I hope Mick coaches at UC until the day he decides to retire.

I think mick has done a great job. my biggest complaint over the years has been his offense but I think that's the only way he thought he could compete against some of those schools. I do think he's starting to change that with recruiting more offensive minded player. Hope that can translate a tourney run one of these years also.

The 300 wins is fine. I'm objecting to the most wins of an active coach under 45.
