Coach Cronin 300 Wins

What makes it meaningless (in your mind) is that it doesn't fit your agenda. The reason this is such an impressive feat is because of what Cronin endured early at UC. To still have a win percentage near 66% playing in the Big East, with 1 scholarship player in year one and taking your lumps, just shows the caliber of coach Cronin and his staff. I hope Mick coaches at UC until the day he decides to retire.

Bingo

Incorrect. He is not the youngest coach to 300 wins. Coach K was 2 years younger. The stat you were looking for is the most wins for an active coach under 45 years old, which is arbitrary and doesn't have much meaning.

That's what not what makes it meaningless. What makes it meaningless is that it's a longevity award. Mick was fortunate to get the job at Murray State so early (at just 32 years old). If you want to develop a valid comparison to coaches would be to take a coaches first 14 seasons and see how many wins they have.

So it's meaningless bc Coach K was younger...but age doesn't matter bc of longevity, so go by the first 14 years...well Cronin is ahead of Coach K by 25 wins through 14 years. Is that good?

also with technology today and with Cronin being so much younger he will live to be 150 years old and surpass all of the coaches a head of him. LOL

Here are just some around Mick within a few years...

Steve Alford (52 years) has 474 wins.

Mark Gottfried (53 years) has 400 wins.

Tom Crean (50 years) has 353 wins.

Tommy Amaker (51 years) has 351 wins.

Jaime Dixon (51 years) has 345 wins. (In one fewer season than Mick)

Sean Miller (48 years) has 333 wins. (In one fewer season than Mick)

Jeff Lebo (50 years) has 322 career. (If that doesn't show you how meaningless this stat is, I don't know what will)

So Coach Cronin has the most wins of any coach under 50 and he is only 45. I still don't get why that's meaningless. You can argue the significance if you really feel you must, but to say it means nothing is going too far imo.

Do you know how many D1 coaches are under 50?

Oh for the love of all things holy.

#1 why do people keep feeding the trolls
#2 please don't compare Cronin to coach K in anyway at this point, just looks really stupid

I have a comparison. Cronin is way less of a tool then Coach K. Doubt Cronin only gives a one game suspension to whining, tripping poor sport.

Crazy how you just want to belittle Cronin as much as possible. Understand you don't like him but sorry there is no denying what he has accomplished here. Rebuilding our program from the ashes. And he's adapting, IMO he has changed his outlook on how his teams should be put together and how they should play quite a bit. He still stresses defense first (which is fine with me), but he has made offense much more important as of late. We are trending the right way, he's gonna have his best record here this year and hopefully his deepest tourney run, we shall see

This is true! You can't argue this one. I hate Duke for this reason. Coach K has been exposed this season with how he has treated Allen with kiddy gloves. Allen is a spoiled kid who acts out on the court like a spoiled little brat. I can't believe Coach K used to coach at Army.

Tubby Smith is the greatest coach ever because he won the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP in his first year with Kentucky !
