Comparable Comparison To UC

On another note, I have noticed that some of the so called "Moderators" have had some "personal" attacks on other members of this board. Im not sure if you think this is funny or empowering but I find it embarrassing as a UC fan.

I apologize if this is the case. Please PM me the details of these possible transgressions and we will take care of it. Though it is possible that the mods (myself included) have a rapport with some members that allow the joking to be taken as such.

You are really, really bad at debate.

How does improvement every year not have anything to do with coaching?

And when a point you make is blown out of the water (in this case Steve Alford), mocking my point (or anyone else's) is an extremely weak argument, in case you were wondering.

I'd love for you to quit abusing your question mark key. :D

Oh, I'm sorry does that offend you????????

Once again, I'd love for you (as a moderator) to set an example and stop with the personal attacks.

Most at this forum keep things very light and not many take things personal. Generally speaking, everyone gets along and pokes fun at everyone.

Typically, most put some kind of symbol behind a statement when it is made in jest or joking around :)),, :D, etc.).

FWIW, it's best we don't taunt Ready2Go too heavily.........his genes tell me an explosion is imminent. :D (Green smilely face indicates I'm playing around and mean absolutely nothing personal....after all, it's just a message board).

I do have a sarcasm code in Spinners thread for the 'Read between the lines' challenged. :D

How about this speaking as Mick Cronin. "when I call time out when we have the ball and design a play--- don't throw it to the other team!"

True, but that would take way too much work for someone like me to change the colors of my posts :D

And I would forget what means what:eek:

Gotta know the code. I think red is for sarcasm, and Pink means Lumberjack has been sawing too damn many logs.

To bearcatjeff first....he too had one scholly player back and lost Ebanks and Holloway to other schools.

That aside

How is it improvment???????????

If it weren't for Depaul last year we would be in the NIT. CORRECT????

How is it improvment when players are not improving. Stats don't lie
Don't know how you can say stats don't tell the whole story... Its hard to judge Cash, and Thomas cause they haven't played in a year and Lance to me has not improved.

When your only argument becomes Huggylover what not, it makes you look weak.

oh and 18-14 last year and sit at 16-13 this year...Clap Clap tremoundous improvement. I'd love to play on your guys teams

Stats show that we have improved every year. So thanks for telling us that stats don't lie.

And you telling someone else that their argument looks weak is hilariously ironic.

IMO Mick has not done a great job. I have said he deserves this year and next, but that is in hope that he improves. Yes his win/loss record has improved every year, but its not really that hard when you play Cal State Bakersfield and beat them (A joke in reference to playing Wofford and losing). Mick has not really improved with Gates, Wilks, Dixon, Vaughn has gotten worse. Ibriahima has played a lot better down the stretch, but that can be attributed to wearing off the rust.

UC has played one of the toughest schedules in the country (19th according to Pomeroy, and I'm sure other rating systems have a similar SOS for UC). Citing weak opponents is not a valid argument.

Also Gates has not gotten worse. His numbers are similar and he is much more efficient.

Wilks still has problems, but he has most definitely improved. Dixon hasn't gotten worse. We just have more guards this year, so his role has been reduced, especially with his recent struggles.

Vaughn isn't as good as he has been. That is true. He hasn't adopted to his reduced role well. Some players are volume shooters. Vaughn appears to be one of those unfortunately. I am glad he came to UC and thankful for what he gave UC, but I think it will help the team when he is gone next year.

18-14 and 16-13 hmmmm? am I missing something here :D

And look at individuals. Stats are either similar to last year or worse!

You are guilty. This case is adjourned.

Like you said, stats don't lie. You lose.

Your missing my point. You said the team has improved every year, I'm saying of course they are, but the numbers can be skewed. You beat the teams your suppose to. So instead of having a loss on your record (like Wofford) you get the win (like Cal State Bakersfield). Thats all I was saying. You can't solely look at "numbers" because statistics can be used anyway you want them too to prove your point.

Not the correct stats (and just so we are clear, I hate the RPI. I think it is an incredibly dumb stat. There are much better stats out there. But it is very mainstream, so I threw it in there anyway).

And your argument still doesn't make sense. We didn't beat those bad teams in the past because our team was AWFUL. That was because of the situation Mick and his staff inherited. Now we are beating those teams handily and you are trying to use it against him. It doesn't work that way.

And just so we are clear, we aren't the only program that struggled early in the rebuilding process, as has been clearly outlined in the Indiana comparison, in which we compare very favorably.

You are correct that he hasn't gotten worse, but I was more thinking about how dominant he was in Maui compared to now. I think Mick can work with him to make him tougher and become a great post player like Fortson and Brannen. I like Wilks is an athletic freak who has shown flashes here and there, and I think Dixon needs some confidence because I feel Mick isn't giving it to him.
