My guess, based on nothing but conjecture, is that this is aimed at reassuring the general public, and potential recruits in particular, that Mick will be healthy & involved in the off season and coach on the bench next year. Everyone needs to know that he will be fine and able to fulfill his duties fully next year and into the future.
As I said, I know nothing, just going based on logic.

I would agree with this. I'm sure he'll have some comments about LD, the future of the team, maybe Morman etc.

I agree as well. I would think any announcement of not being able to coach wouldn't be made while we are hoping to land recruits for next year. With that said, I'm still nervous about what he'll say and hope his health is in order.

My guess is that he's saying he's coming back and will lay out the time table for it. If it were bad news you wouldn't announce it this way. Plus rumors about not coming back would have surfaced by now.
