Because in these last few games mick should be fighting for his job. Mick should be going into things with a sense of urgency, knowing that if he doesn't finish with some sort of success he could soon be picking up unemployment checks with the thegreatone. I think it could bring a new fire under this team, which has been needed for a while.
Other than that, these type of situations should be handled in the off season, not during.
As far as this settling disgruntled fans, why should it? Mick has not produced good enough results. No reason why this shouldn't be heard.
As far as keeping the players happy? How do you know? Cash had a FB status up saying, new year, same results... something has to change... Maybe there happy with mick, maybe there not.
As far as bringing him back, well mick should be taking Lance out to dinner cause thats the only hope for a brighter team next year, imo. Lance can make this team a NCAA team, without him I dont see that happening.
Rebuilding is a long term process, it is a marathon, it is not a sprint. What Mick has accomplished in his 4 years shows excellent work and progress. Mick was given a 6 year contract at the beginning because the administration knew it was going to take at least that long to recover. Rome was not built in a day. Those screaming for Mick to be fired have unrealistic expectations on how much time it takes to rebuild from scratch in the Big East (see Tom Crean at Indiana in the Big Ten).
