This probably isn't worth responding to, but remember when Cobb only had one good game and you were freaking out, dropping "I told you so"s everywhere you could? Quit being a hypocrite. Kevin shot well today. I assume we all hope that continues.

Cobb has 2 or 3 games over 15 points and is averaging more ppg and minutes than KJ. Kj has only scored more than cobb 3 times this year. Without Cobb this team would have 2 or 3 more loses right now.

Commen domanator.

It's just annoying how he scores 12 points vs a crappy team and some people say he's got his confidence and then Saturday when we play a good team (uconn) he will score 3 or 4 and some will say oh he lost his confidence. Until a player has two or three games of double digits like (Caupain, Ellis, Clark) there's no reason to start talking about it. KJ and Morman are fighting for the title worst player on the team.

not true both easily better than sanders and moore. I still believe kj will figure it out

Cobb's season high is 31 minutes. We don't need him (or anyone really) going over that right now.

Eh...I get that but it's not really my point. One of the reasons he isn't getting more than 31 minutes is because he can't. Not when he doesn't play the first 5 minutes of each half. That's why you see him at 22-28 minutes a lot. If he started both halfs it would be easier to get him 28-32 minutes per game.

My point is to at least have the option of more minutes in the case we DO need it. He was integral in us winning a couple of games already. Troy has played more than 35 minutes a few times already. Why? Because he is considered to be that valuable to us on the floor by the coaches. In a perfect world Troy would not have to play more than 30 minutes...but this is not a perfect world situation.

I hope we get better production out of more guys so this isn't an issue and they can rest more...but it is an issue right now IMO.

Yet KJ has a better FG%. Can you believe that?

Everyone on this board is aware that in the preseason you said that Cobb would be better than KJ. Of the everyone on this board, not one will ever give you props for it because it doesn't really matter. The fact that you are so openly rooting against KJ just to have some sort of satisfaction of that prediction really baffles me. I don't put people on blast on this board but I am seriously tired of hearing it from you. Be a fan and root for both players like the rest of us. If Cobb has a better year then great for him and great for the Bearcats. If KJ starts playing like most of us think he can then great for him and great for the Bearcats. But for sanity's sake please quit rooting against KJ and quit posting about how bad you think he is. Nobody on here wants to hear it.

I hear you. I just don't think we'll be so desperate during conference play that we'll need over 30 minutes from Cobb in any non-OT game. He is only in his first year at this high of a level and he isn't a big guy. No need to wear him down. I do agree though that the option for him to start the 2nd half should always be on the table.

If the side bet means that much to you, we can just call it off and have you win right now. If the side bet isn't driving your hatred of KJ, then...what is? Bc it is a little too intense.

It's clear they've improved. Clark is advanced as a freshman. Ellis and Deberry are solid. All 3 have room to improve. Caupain is getting better and better. He's the key to the team offensively, IMO.

What's unclear is how good the defense is. I'm aware of what the statistics say, but man it seemed like ECU got off a ton of good shots last night. Lebo is a good coach and I thought they executed some nice stuff but just don't have the shooters. They also got to the rim with some regularity, but UC has the benefit of 2 shot-changers now plus a wide body in Deberry.
We'll see what the team is made of when a team gets hot from the perimeter vis a vi VCU and how the team handles it. Will Coach Davis get them out of the 2-3 quicker than he did against VCU? Can they switch defenses effectively? Are the perimeter guys going to get better at staying in front of their men (already improving somewhat) or will they keep swiping at the ball from behind?

UConn will be a good test. UC has improved and will continue to I think, but there's still a long way to go.

I know you have said you know what the stats say but I think 14 games with a schedule strength in the 40's is a nice sample.

We are 6th in points allowed. Yes we have a slow tempo which affects our numbers on both ends of the court. However, we seem to have an effective D. I would be willing to throw out the VCU game due to the circumstances...it was noticeable that their heads weren't in that game.

We have some disruptive players in Ellis, Clark, and Morman. KJ has to avoid fouling but he is disruptive as well. Caupain and Cobb have a nose for the ball. Thomas is getting better. I guess Sanders and DeBerry are serviceable. Moore needs improvement. Guyn is out of course.

Because of our aggressive style and switching it's going to seem like there are a lot of wide open looks because there are. But the rest of the time they are a real bear to get good looks against.

As do both Sanders & Thomas - Cobb in incredibly streaky - his huge advantage over KJ so far this year is that he's much more trustworthy with the ball, turning it over only once every 36 minutes, and with a 2:1 assist/to rate - both numbers tops on the team

Cincinnati's Coreontae DeBerry has scored 8 or more points in 3 of his last 4 games. 6-10, 270. Like an offensive tackle on roller skates.

Showing DeBerry some love!

there is no doubt Cobb is the better player. I was just completely shocked when I looked that up. Morman is the only player on the roster with a lower FG % than Cobb.

You were clearly having a problem grasping how development works. Glad to help chief...

No offense to L-T, but I trust a landscaper's opinion a lot more than I trust your opinion. It's nothing against you personally. But, you are running a blogging business. The only edge you might have over some guy with an iPad is your relationship with the coaching staff, which completely deteriorates if you write stuff they do not want to hear. It's like Geoff Hobson criticizing Mike Brown.

As a fan, I appreciate the information, but absorb the information with a grain of salt, understanding this bias.

Truth is, this team is playing a lot better under Larry Davis. They are fun to watch again. Maybe it's good timing. Maybe Mick is the World's greatest analytical scout, which would not surprise me since he was raised by a professional scout. Maybe it's random chance and a larger sample size will show that this stretch is an outlier.

Maybe, just maybe, Mick is better at strategic planning and big picture items, while LD is better at running the day-to-day operations and coaching in games.

We shall see.

Just a couple things on this. First, I dont really care whether you value Chad's opinion or not but I can tell you with 100% certainty that the staff does not read nor does it care what Chad writes about. Personally I find Chad to be very objective in his assessment of the bearcats but I assure you he does not write just what he thinks the staff wants to hear. Second I dont think the bearcats progress has anything to do with the change in coach. They are running the EXACT same system. They are getting better because they are gaining in game experience together. They are getting more comfortable with each other. They are becoming more comfortable with the system they are running. This is what happens when you develop. We lost to Marshall and Presbyterian and went to the sweet 16. Last year we lost to New Mexico and got blown out by Xavier only to rise to 7th in the country and a conference championship. As the season goes on teams get better. Seven new players and everyone who is returning has a new role. It was going to take time for them to gel. Saying we are playing better because of Larry Davis is just as short sighted as saying because of Larry Davis we got blown out by VCU. Neither are true. Larry is implementing Mick's system. He deserves credit for keeping the ship on the right track which I think everyone expected he would do. Bottom line is this team is developing and I think there is reason to be optimistic no matter who the coach is.

No offense, but I value your opinion even less than hearing from L-T.

This about wraps it up. Enjoy the site for the few people here that have a brain. So long...

Chad, I hope you continue to make posts here. I look forward to what you have to say. I think you always give great insight and more importantly, rational truth to topics. Keep on progressing and growing.
