Embarrasing. Coaching was awful, energy was awful. Only Cobb and Ellis came to play.

Mostly I'm pissed at coach for sitting Troy to start. I liked Troy with swagger. He had none today. Poor choice coach, very poor choice.

I thought it was a huge mistake too. Not only is he better playing with swagger, but he's the heart and soul of the team. It took the fire out of his belly and the entire team followed.

Just remember, SMU missed the tournament last year despite being ranked in the top 25. This was mostly due to horrible losses to USF and Temple. We are one more bad loss away from being in the NIT. The margin of error is that thin right now... Better get their heads straight, not lose the team or Caupain because of decisions made today, and win the games we're supposed to win from here out.

Yeah but it also shows the immaturity of Caupain. He played like he was pouting out there. When did he try and drive to the basket? Never, he was basically invisible. I agree it was a stupid coaching decision if coaches motive was to send a message to him. Troy should have proved why should have been out there but instead he did the opposite.

KJ 0-7 from 3, all 25 footers. Absolutely, disgusting. Is there a mid-range game anywhere from our 2 position? This team on the road is lost. That team is terrible and we let them have there way. To not have a field goal in the last 10 minutes shows a major lack of leadership. Not 1 damn guy to lead this team.

Embarrassing loss. Benching caupain turned out to be a mistake. But that's on him not the coaches. I want my guys head strong and hungry to prove themselves not to poo poo all day. This team didn't come to play big boy basketball and they got their butts handed to them. They deserved to lose. No aggression on offense. Refs were calling hand checks all day and we never drove the ball once. Chucking up threes all day rather than work for a shot. This game will cost them a chance at conference title and probably two seeds in the dance. Hope they learn their lesson.

Caupain is at fault for how he played, there is no doubt about it. You don't know how kids will react to things. That's why it's a risky move.

You sent wrong message benching your best player for playing with fire. NOBODY played with any type fire today

Bulldog, you hit this one square. As soon as I saw Caupain on the bench, I feared they were sending him the wrong message. First time he shows some competitive fire and leadership and gets benched (for what I consider to be dubious technicals at best). Sure enough, he played about as passively as a player can play.

As encouraging as Thursday was, today was equally if not more discouraging. They somnambulated through the majority of the game. Tentative and passive. As I said about that game in Cincy, Lebo is a good coach and he had his team ready to play. They beat UC in transition. They were hungrier. They caught UC reading their press clippings and benching players for no reason and took full advantage.

Forget the conference title. You start losing games at East Carolina and you can stop talking about any kind of NCAA tourney berth. The good news is, clearly you can't read anything into whichever game was just played so maybe the team catches fire and plays lights out in Dallas this Thursday. But you have to play with an edge on the road and this team shows no kind of consistent edge. I could wax nostalgic about the UC teams of old that loved nothing more than to go into an inferior opponents' gym and beat them senseless, but why make ourselves even sadder?

We should stop making double-digit win predictions and accept the fact that until this team develops some kind of killer instinct and consistent will to win, we will continue the ebb and flow of the past 4 days. Some brilliance, some incompetence, and more than likely the NIT. Doesn't mean I'm sour on them, nor will I watch any less or root any less, but they are who they are until they prove otherwise.

Pretty pathetic. Can't wait to hear the bs that comes out of Larry Davis's mouth in the postgame. He too should be embarrassed with his performance today.

I think the entire %$T^$%^%$^ coaching staff owes this team an apology. Larry Davis was abysmal all damn day. I dont know who made the decision to bench Troy today but it was completely unnecessary. You have an emerging leader and go to guy and you try to make a bullshit point because the kid went a little far in a rivalry game. If Mick made the decision shame on him. If it was Larry same thing. Then Cobb comes out and just goes nuts and LD decides to sit him for over 10 minutes. The last 5 minutes of coaching was some of the worst I have seen in a long time. Just abysmal. Troy is the heart and soul of this team and they decide to screw around in a game THEY CAN NOT LOSE to make a bullshit point. Im livid. Just embarrassing.

Correct. He's still the youngest player on the team. You've just coaxed the kid into a leadership role and then you punish him for dubious technicals as he's playing the game of his life. I'd love to hear the rationale Davis/Cronin had for making that choice. Still, players have to step up. Nobody did.

Terrible coaching, caupain wasn't aggresive, the list goes on n on. I love this team but they don't play consistently. Let's 🙏 for players to start taking the open shot instead of being unselfish. We don't need to force 3's all the time.

Who can drive to basket? Cobb bounced ball off his feet twice and had double dribble that's totally unacceptable in MIDDLE SCHOOL.

Amidst the horrific guard play, I'd forgotten how good Cobb was to start the game. KJ facilitated some but had an off shooting day. Caupain was worthless on both ends. I'm still trying to figure out what the message to him was today. Praying they haven't lost him for the season - which is crazy to say on the face of it but you never know.

This team has been poor away from home all season, so can't say I didn't see a loss like this coming. When they don't play extremely hard and tough for 40 minutes any one can beat them. That is why UC will probably not be successful in the NCAA tournament under Mick. Too small margin of error even to beat bad teams.

Oh well, don't freak out too much. I still think UC will make the tournament which is about what we all expected coming into the season.

To be fair if there was any game to send message by benching a player it's without a doubt against ECU. He came into game both halfs before first tv timeout.
