I remember that kid, would have been a nice get for us. But looks like he wanted all the minutes and all the solo glory. Picking a perennial loser over a basic lock to get in the tourney, makes no sense.

Ahh not saying I agree with it but I definitley get it. He was sold on the fact that he can get starter minutes and shots for four years while playing in acc against the Dukes and unc's of the world, he was told he would be the peice that helps them turn it around. Where as here he woulda road the bench and just been another body and Ya he would made the tourny here but can't knock a kid for wanting to play right away and be the man. Kids look for different things bowman wanted to play

I'm watching Kobi Simmons taking every defender off the dribble at will against Cal.Evans should be doing this and I think williams is capable of being this type of player. No use in being super athletic if you aren't using it.

Holy shit Ky Bowman finishes with 30 points in a 96-81 win over Syracuse. Shot 11-17 and 7-8 from 3! Also had 9 Assists and 5 Rebounds. Wish we got him

He was pretty close to coming here I heard. Were we one of his final 3 schools?

I believe it was down to us and BC. He basically decided he wanted to play in a power conference over the American. Maybe he thought it would be tough for playing time immediately but I can confidently say, if he played like he is playing now, he would get playing time here. Sucks he didn't choose us but it is what it is.

Wow, he would have been a great addition.

Former Missouri G K.J. Walton is transferring to Ball State. (HT @EvanDaniels) https://t.co/8QWFvmwlRz

Wasn't he Top 100? I'm definitely not saying the recruiting rankings mean nothing, but it can also be just a number. Not worth getting hung up on that imo unless we're talking about a guy who isn't even rated. The coaches know. Chad would know better than I on this, but it seemed like we could've had Walton if we really wanted. Our class rank would've been boosted, but for what?

Although he didn't exactly light it up at Missouri, he got decent playing time both years. He could certainly transfer to a higher-profile school than Ball State, but it sounds like he just wants to be closer to home (Indianapolis). That said, I'm not sad that he didn't come here.

And yeah, recruiting rankings aren't everything. But find me a national champion in recent history that didn't have at least a half dozen top 100 guys on the roster. Butler came close, but they had a future NBA all-star and boy wonder for a head coach. I know some under-the-radar guys pan out for us, but we aren't going to go from good to great as a program until we start getting more top 100 recruits.

Heard on a podcast once, (I think the cbs cbball podcast),they said, the top 20-30 rated guys are clearly above everyone else. From 30-150 are pretty similar. While this probably isn't always true, it probably is right more than it isn't.

That sounds pretty accurate to me. Throw in the late bloomers, varying degrees of work ethic, and guys who do or don't fit a certain system/coach and it probably somewhat equalizes recruits in that range.

Got me thinking what Cronin Recruits were in top 30. Off hand, think Yancy (26 Rivals I believe) Lawrence (26 rivals) Stephenson (11 Rivals) were only true frosh, Mike Williams may have been but was transfer
