The last game to me was a symbol of something I have been looking forward to for a long time. I will temper my excitement a bit because of the talent depleted team we played however...
High scoring, 3 pointers, run and gun, pressing, and dunks!! Things that get fans excited to be in the seats. I have grown to love defense over the years in the Huggins and now Cronin years but let's face it...defense doesn't necessarily get ordinary fans (and even potential recruits) excited and in the seats. I long for the days when the whole crowd was yelling "SUBWAY...SUBWAY...SUBWAY!!!" because back in the day when we would score 100 pts the fans would get a free 6" sub with a soda (pop) purchase if they presented their ticket after the game.
It's been a long time since we have been treated to a team that has a LOT of exciting dunks. Last game I think Mooj had 4, Jackson and Thomas had at least one monster dunk...but more than that we had players like SK, Guyn, Nyarcuk, and Gaines in the mix. In the last two games I think everyone but Davis and maybe Sanders has flushed one.
This team will play D...but perhaps more importantly from a bandwagon fan and recruiting perspective...we can run, hit threes, press, score points and provide highlight dunks. We are finally seeing the team Cronin has been envisioning all along. It's an exciting time to be a Bearcat fan!!
