https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM9Uqbiuvic (kid can take it to the hole, this was last summer in AAU).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=velWYcS5MGc (this was Prince at the Adidas camp last year)

Take what you will from these videos because in these AAU tournaments there is little defense ( a lot of running up and down the court with monster dunks)

https://247sports.com/college/cinci...2018-Commitment-From-Prince-Gillam-121239553/ ( this is a pretty good article on him)

He scored double digit points in 10 of the 12 games played at the highest level in the Nike and Adidas tourneys last year against some highly rated opponents. Points are not everything and I know that but this kid plays extremely hard and is a good shot blocker for only being on 6'7 ( reminds me of eric hicks, undersized forward who can play d and make a play with the ball in his hand.) He redshirted last year because he signed late and didn't get to campus until the last day of august. He's also a 4.0 student which speaks volumes about the type of kid he is.

More impressed than would have thought.. All dunks... But showed the ability to dribble. Run. Jump. Could fill in really nicely this year

Based on the team pic from this past year I would guess Gillam more in the area of 6'5" so it's gonna be a little tougher for him to convert inside. But he has a solid frame and looks physically ready for D1. If he works on his skills a lot (ball handling and shooting) he could be a nice plug in this year. Sounds like he is more than capable mentally. The 4.0 is awesome but from the article it sounds like he doubled his course load and took summer classes in order to make the 2018 class at the same time improving his game. That is the type of work ethic and dedication that should make him a candidate to really improve year over year. I am glad he stayed at UC!

Both Gillam and Hardnett seem to have tons of potential. They are both athletic tweeners who can bang inside or shoot from the outside and both seem to have a good handle. Seemed like in brief glimpses during Cronin's pregame interviews in practice that Gillam was working a lot on his 3-point shooting.

Still, they have to make the jump to the next level at UC and are only redshirt freshmen. I expect them to be excellent players at some point, but like with Diarra my concern is they won't get there quick enough this year. Have to wait until we actually see them on the court.

I think one of the two are going to have to be relied on to give us around 10-15 minutes (or more if JC does not come back). It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. I think Hardnett spent 3 years in HS running the point so that could be very valuable for him. We will see which one can defend the best and which one can shoot 3's the best.

I am seeing Dermarr Johnson post videos of him in the gym with Diarra and he's always posting about how much he loves UC. JB get him on your staff ASAP! He just graduated in April.

Would anyone actually be opposed to DJ on the staff? He seems like a players coach, the guys seem to really like him and he knows his stuff, I also think he could in time be a great recruiter.

Had to go look when you said that. Here's a link to the picture.

I have to agree based on the picture. Though Prince did reclassify, so he's young, maybe he has grown? But I think he came in listed a 6'7", which is obviously incorrect. He is right around the same height as Williams and Fredericks, who are both listed as 6'5". If we are generous Prince is at most 6'5.5" in that picture.

Hardnett looks 6'8" though - or 6'7" at the minimum.

I've been thinking Prince would be our future PF and Hardnett our future SF based on what I know of their basketballs skills and where/how they played in HS. Based on that picture I think I have it backwards.

I am guessing a lot of teams do this for one reason or another. I am guessing Fredericks in the 6'4" maybe 6'4.5" range but I think Gillam lines up with Williams height.

I don't think it's a big deal but I think Gillam may have to try to become more of a wing than a PF type at that height. He will still have the added benefit of knowing how to score under the rim (with either hand).

I agree on Hardnett. He'e every bit of 6'7" and maybe 6'8". He lines up with Scott who is listed at 6'8".

I just went to look at Fredericks recruiting page (on this forum) and the first post had him listed as 6'8". I mean come on. He is at the very most 6'5". I saw further down the thread where Chad corrected it to at least say 6'6"...but he is probably not even that based on the team pic.

The only reason I can see for adding "fake height" is in the recruiting process to get some coaches to come out and talk to you.

you can be a PF at 6'5 in college. its about how you use your body. if you've got the moves you'll be fine.

yeah this is all over for basically every player. i pretty much ignore any of that stuff i see. height and vert are the 2 that get lied about all the time.

Hicks was listed at 6'7" but I think he may have been closer to 6'6". It can be done. He played along side Maxiel his JR year and MCGowan his SR year both listed at 6'7". Fortson was 6'7" and an All American.

Technique and brute strength can get the job done. 6'5" might push the limits but as you mentioned...it's still doable.

SMU won the league in 16/17 with a 6-man rotation that was pretty short in height. They went something like 6'6, 6'3, 6'5, 6'5, 6'7, 6'8.

We could possibly duplicate that with a line-up of Jaevin, Jarron, Keith, Moore/Prince, and Diarra/Scott.

i think hicks was closer to 6'5 than he was 6'7

You can combat being a 6’5 power forward with long arms, elite athleticism and a strong wide frame. Charles Barkley was like 6’4 but had near 7 ft wingspan, and a wide frame.

Also... There are different kinds of athleticism. Having a elite 2nd jump helps guys who are short because they can make their second jump quicker.

Prince looks to have pretty athleticism. I think he ends up being really good

I found a solid source. Very interesting article by the way on pre draft measurements. This was from 2006. I wish they had his wingspan for him because I seem to remember it being considerable. The reason they are talking about 6'5.5" vs 6'6" is because the article said some players hurt themselves by wearing lower shoes. .75" vs the average 1.25" sole. Hicks must have been one of them...lol! He could have measured in 1/2" (or more) taller with the right shoes.

Take Cincinnati’s Eric Hicks for example. The Cincy website listed him at 6’6”. He came in at 6’4.75” w/o shoes and only managed to squeak out 6’5.5” with shoes. For him, a solid 6’6” would have probably looked better than the 6’ 5½ he just recorded. A future in Europe is almost certainly in his near future. -

BOYS- We have smoke. Cumberland just deleted the picture off Instagram of him thanking Bearcat Nation. It may mean nothing, but this is good news. Please cite KennyFreaseLeftEye when the news breaks. You heard it here first. Cumby is coming home.
