Mick talking about the scrimmages. Says a couple of interesting things. Doesn't know who will start. Everyone will play. This team won't win a Championship with only 6 guys. The guys who are in shape, and he says "the older guy", will play more (maybe about Jenifer playing)? Freshman needing to play and play smart/ well in order to compete. Good video.

Thanks for posting...yes it was interesting to listen to. Almost exclusively focused on offense right now it seems. He mentioned we will see a completely different offense which is centered on getting the ball up the court and getting in a flow...fast pace people moving all around...not standing still in half court. It sounds like he wants them to play more instinctive and that he doesn't want to get into many situations where we reset the offense in the half court and look over to the bench for a play call because it takes too much time. Just run something and try to get a good shot off and hopefully get one sooner than later so we aren't forced into a bad shot by the clock.

It's nice that we have depth to do this. He mentioned last year we focused a lot on getting guys ready on D and rebounding etc. This year we can focus on offense because we have those other fundamentals in place. I guess the new kids will just have to learn on the fly. He expects the older guys to be in better shape so they will likely get the most minutes but it will depend on how the freshmen handle it.

Sounds like the kind of basketball we have been wanting to see for a long time. I hope to see the type of pace he is talking about this year.

DeBerry and Ellis on court a mis match nightmare for other team.

Coach did mention it will be interesting to see how long he can put them on the court together this year. He talked a lot about not being able to see how different player combinations worked in the scrimmages because it was 5 on 5. He will be able to start to experiment with that tonight.

I think Mick has more trust in this group than maybe any he has had. I will definitely enjoy seeing the guys having lots of freedom out there. And with lots of subs bc of depth, no one will have to stay on the floor if they aren't doing the right things. I think we'll see a lot more coaching on the sideline (while guys are getting a breather), rather than coaching from the sideline (while guys are on the floor). And imo that helps take pressure off of the players.

Good points...I agree with all of them

I'm going with UC: 76 GVS: 48

But also depending on how much the actual veterans play, could be a lot closer

Cobb, kj and Caupain aren't open gym type players. It's going to be harder than we think running this new offense. Caupain ALWAYS looked to sidelines for what play to run. I hope his confidence running PG has improved or well be right back to slow it down grind it out type game.

Mick talking so much about open gym style offense and he doesn't know who starts leaves slight door open for jenifer starting season at PG

He talked about the guys who are in shape to play specifically older guys could play the whole game. Shut the door on Jennifer until we see what he does on the floor as a role player
