With the Bearcats stuck in the American until someone figures out how to get past a GoR or one of the P5 decides to make a move on their own, I've been wondering about our future. If UC is stuck, what are the chances the American can grow into a power conference?

Aresco says we need to win. Well yeah. But what needs to be done or can be done by the conference to accomplish that goal? Is there something that the American can do to help Tulane or Memphis get off the ground? How does it help UC elevate to the CFB elite so that we're regularly ranked and get the last bowl rotation spot regularly?

Does anyone know if the price of admission for Tulane, Memphis, Tulsa etc. was that they had to commit significantly more to their athletic programs? Can the American create a sort of "bank" to help loan money to programs to upgrade facilities?

I'm just curious to know if anyone has heard anything or if there are any good ideas out there.

I think as far as the conference becoming elite I would say we're SOL. That would mean the power 5 would concede to give up some of their power and bowl revenue. That just isn't going to happen. For UC to be considered elite they need to win, win, win. It would help for the rest of the conference to up their status by winning as well as it would help us if we were to dominate a better conference. But honestly they just need to win just about every conference game and win the majority of non-conference games and schedule some elite teams and if they lose at least show they belonged on the same field. Boise State and TCU became respected teams because they went to BCS bowls and won. Anything short of that will just solidify their status as a non-power team.
