Guyn's recent 3 point success

Seems like his shot selection has gotten a lot better. Not sure if he'll keep it up at this level, since it's a pretty small sample size, but it's definitely nice to see. As long as he's open on the line, I say fire away.

We might be sitting at 3-4 losses if it wasn't for his 17 points and 5 3pt FG in the UL, Temple, and USF games. Those two 3's that gave us a halftime lead at USF were huge. Hopefully he's getting healthy and this is a sign of things to come.

We need him to be more selective like he has been in recent games. He is like Shaq, he has to pick his spots since he isn't a great shooter.

Setting the bar pretty high IMO. He's at 30% right now. I'd take 34%. Even SK has never hit 40%

Guyn has made timely three pointers in each of the past 3 games. He also secured a huge defensive rebound against Louisville. He has been taking better shots and has been shooting them with confidence.

Jeff I think that was because he wanted two ball handlers against their pressure.

I agree, I was just toning done the "if be can continue to hit" at the 46% pace.

I think we're going to see a lot of Guyn and Caupain in the game together next year without SK They're the 2 guys with the most experience in the backcourt. Johnson and Mormon could be the guys that determine the success of this team next year. Those guys providing quality minutes next year will be critical. I don't think we have to worry about the frontcourt as much next year with Shaq, Sanders, Lawrence and they new guys.

At this point in time, they're not guarding him as a three shooter. Vs LOU, he was standing just outside the 3 pt line unguarded with his arms stretched out begging for the ball from inside. He got it, and........nothing but net! They won't be leaving him unguarded much longer.

Thanks for that article, Waite. Now maybe people (Caupainites) will understand why I was big on Guyn from the onset of the season. His defense, alone, had me convinced (plus his handles). Now, if only he can learn to penetrate successfully..............look out! Just in time for the important part of the season. I guess he's still having shoulder problems from that collision last month - at least that's what I guess he was alluding to.

I still like Caupain better at the PG spot but if Guyn keeps developing as a long range threat I have no problem with him seeing some action at the 2 spot. In my eyes he fits best as a off guard but on this team he has to give them minutes at PG.

I would be overjoyed if any of our players shot 3's at 40%

I'm estactic about what Guyn is doing, but when people were calling for TC to start he was simply outplaying Guyn. That's not even debatable. To his credit Guyn has stepped up and has been huge the past couple of weeks but it doesn't change the fact that Troy Caupain is the future at 18 years old. I'm just happy that when one is down the other is up.

GG is a solid role player for this seasons team. TC is a future leader and star for this program who at times had greatly outplayed GG as an 18 year old kid straight outta high school.

GG stepped up. I expect the same of TC.

The most interesting thing about that whole article to me is that it took 18 games into the season to notice that someone was very low on steals. And GG was shocked to hear about it? Now come on. A defensive minded coach which one of his love affairs is with deflections and NEITHER was aware of this?

Hell I was aware of this back then!! Caupain was outstealing GG by a large margin...even if GG was better at staying in front of his man.

I am glad this was finally addressed...because it seems like GG has responded in a big way. They said the first 18 games he had 4 steals...and since he's had 13 in 8 games. Night and day. It seems like GG is really growing in confidence in shooting and rebounding as well. I can recall two rebounds in particular that I could NOT believe how high off the ground he was.

If he was a little better at getting to the rim or making great passes we could really have a nice tandem at PG. Kudos to GG for stepping up to the plate.
