Stats are stats. You can make them say whatever you want.

Yeah I can say we've lost 16 games the last 2 years when we don't have 100 possessions. Or I can say we've lost 16 games the last 2 years when we have more than 5 possessions.

But I'd be intentionally being misleading as hell when I say that, and that's exactly what you've done.

70 is a more realistic number. Over 150 teams average that.

Is it unfair to say we have 2 losses this year over 62 possessions, and 3 at 62 or less?

It might be more realistic to normal teams, but clearly we aren't normal. It's as useless at 100 when we didn't reach 70 a single time in regulation last year.

It's not unfair to say we have 2 losses this year over 62 possessions. Just like it's also fair to say we haven't touched 70 possessions in any of our 9 games against teams in the top 150. But in those 9 games, the 2 games with the highest possessions, we've lost.

Attendance looks like its going to be absolutely atrocious tonight. Every upper seation is 80% not sold.

I think were lucky if we get 4000 people tonight.

So yea, everyone wants UC to win and blah blah blah and yet not one is willing to spend 10 or 20 bucks to go cheer them on.

We have to have one of the worst fan bases. We lose a few game and no one shows the rest of the season.

I'd rather us just shrink capacity to 6000 total than have our guys play in a 13k arena with 4000 inside.

This is usually a game I would attend, but after being at the Butler, ISU, and Temple games, I'm going to give my heart a rest. Plus maybe a small part of me thinks I'm a jinx.

Get a new coach and you'll see butts in the rafters again

I don't think this is exactly correct. Scoring more points doesn't lead to more possessions. You can play slow as heck, be extremely efficient, and score a decent amount of points. That doesn't mean there will be more possessions.

An example this year would be the Villanova/Virginia game. 86-75 final. That game had 1 less possession than our game vs USF.

It's not 100% correct but generally speaking more points lead to more possisons. There an instances where teams might shoot extremely well and that could limit possessions. Im not a stats guy but does an offensive rebound count as a new possession in the stats you all use or is it just a continuation of the original possession? I'm assuming a new possession means every time the shot clock resets.

It's the chicken or the egg conundrum. Is it win and they will come, or is it come and we will start winning? There's been too many years of so-so basketball here. We've allowed it to go on far too long. Now, everyone is just numb. There's no buzz or excitement anymore. People just aren't motivated to waste their time for this product. I've had season tickets for over 50 years. The last few, I've actually went way past the deadline before I finally decided to renew them again at the last minute. The way this season is going, I may be at the end of the line. You start losing loyal fans like my family has been, you've got major problems.

I thought the same thing.

I ended up watching Tulsa from home even though I had season tickets because my daughter was sick..

and we won by 20.

If we lose tonight, I may just have to watch every home game at home because Im cursed

Im confused though. You really really think the program is in that bad of shape??

I mean yea, we've had some tough losses but Mick has built this program back up to consistently making the tournament and consistently winning 20+ games a year.

The numbers do not lie, Cronin HAS rebuilt the program. And while he does have more work to do, I don't see this as a stale mate. We are getting better and better recruits each year.

I guess I dont get the doom and gloom. Ill feel different if we lose tonight about the season but Im going to cheer them on and hope they can turn it around.

These stats are a bit on the slanted side aren't they?

This team didn't hit 70 possessions in regulation a single time last year. So using the 16 loss stat is a bit of a joke. This team didn't hit 70 possessions once this year against a team ranked in the top 180.

We gave up 70+ points with possessions in the 60's 1 time last year, the loss to Temple. We've given up 70+ points 3 times this year with possessions in the 60's, Butler, ISU, and Temple.

I agree. We just have to play both sides of the ball effectively. We need max effort on D and max focus on O. I prefer an up tempo game but we have to be able to be effective defensively to play that way. I don't see any good reason why we can't do both

I don't know guys. After watching the USF and SMU games, I just don't see a win tonight. That was some pretty bad basketball exp down the stretch.

Maybe Houston will pull a Tulsa and miss everything and fans and Mick can say how much better UC's D looks, but I don't think it happens.

UH-65

UC-60

Say what you want about Sampson, but the dude can flat out coach.

it's people like you who are numb. you've numbed yourself. your expectations are unrealistic. there's plenty of buzz and excitement and the program makes progress every year on that front.

we just drew 10,000 for a game against a bad team during winter break at 3pm on a work day. practically every seat between 10k and capacity blows anyway.

this program is one of 11 in the country to make the tournament for the past 5 years. there's a sweet 16 run in there too with a team that had a realistic shot at going further, and last year's team played mostly competitive against an immensely talented kentucky team. we'll make it again this year, and there's the talent to make a run.

huggins, who some people still can't seem to get over, went to one sweet 16 in his last 9 years.

this is cincinnati. we're in a crappy conference with crappy facilities. because of this program, we are working on improving both.

you do not speak for some majority.

Buzz and excitement? Guess we will find out when we see how many turn out for tonight's game.

And the NCAA streak is pointless. In this day of age you have to be pretty damn shitty not to make it in a water down field. Don't bring up Huggs as well. Nobody on here is crying we want Huggs back anymore. But since you try and take a shot at a coach who did more then Mick will ever do here, Mick has made 1 sweet 16 in 9 years. Don't forget the pimp slap Harvard gave him with his highest seeded team either. then the moronic comment calling an Ivy league school a high major.

Did you write this while you were renewing your 2016-2017 Bengals season tickets?

I'd say his expectations are right on par with the history of our program.

I guess my issue boils down to this: Coach Cronin coaches AAC games like it's 2007 and we're in the old Big East just trying to survive with lesser talent.
