Really need somebody to tell me why they think we can win. I just don't see it. Don't misunderstand, I want the cats to win, I just don't see where we have an advantage. I guess playing at home is one. Any others???

Are you serious? This is basically the same team that we played in Houston last year near the end of the season. We were in that game throughout and only lost by 3 despite being -3 on turnovers. If we played a clean game, we probably beat them last year - on their home field.

Of course we can win. they probably have better overall talent, but the more talented team doesn't always win.

There's not that much separating our team from theirs. I'd concede that they should be favored, but to act like we can't even be competitive is ridiculous.

I expect it to be a close game. I'll be shocked if we get destroyed. it could happen, but I don't expect that at all.

We'll see on Thursday.

Go Cats!

Discipline and play calling will be huge in this one. I think our DB's are the cream of the crop on D...they end up helping our LB's and lineman a lot on the run as well as providing pretty good pass coverage. In the first game we had pretty good coverage but lost several jump balls where the defender was not able to locate the ball (which isn't easy). We need to minimize miss communication.

We need the D line to get some pressure and to contain the outside better. I think we can move the ball well enough if we can play solid D. Need to be plus 1 or 2 on turnovers.

It won't be easy but if we are focused maybe we can pull one out at a very loud NIP!! A lot to gain and not much to lose.

so you agree they are more talented and have been made the favorite. I'm asking where we have the advantage.

Hope your right but I wish we had more then a very loud Nip to rely on.

Guys I guess what I'm asking is where do we have the advantage? Our we better on defense? Can we run the ball on them? If you were TT what would your game plan consist of? I think we need to limit there possessions. If we get into a run and gun game we will lose. Green and Boone must come up big. The o line has to open up some lanes and get push. It would also help if we generate some pass rush. Our back up softies got torched against Purdue. Will the starters be back.

I don't understand why many of you are so high on Houston, is it because of the national media? They want a Cinderella to talk about all season. We have a very good team with skilled players, whats say we shut the media up by beating Houston. Our team is more than capable. Lets enjoy the game!

Ok. I think our passing game will be better than theirs. I think our defensive backs will be able to limit their receivers effectiveness. I think our kicking game may be better than theirs. We'll have some of the element of surprise on our side as we have a new offensive coordinator who showed some new wrinkles in the Purdue game, but likely has some more that he hasn't shown yet. We'll obviously have the crowd in our favor.

Is that enough - no idea.

Is this more like the response you were looking for?

certainly no response is wrong but I'm looking for someone who can compare the two teams. Is familiar with what they do and how they defend. Who are some of their big weapons. Just trying to get a bit more then what was being posted.

Houston runs a power spread offense. We will need to be strong between the tackles. If we sneak a safety up in the box they are very good at play action.

On defense they run a 3 4 defense. They will blitz a linebacker in passing downs. Our line will need to control the line of scrimmage. They are very quick flying to the ball.

They are well coached and are flying high with being ranked and knocking of Oklahoma and a overwhelmed Lamar. The head coaches is a former assistant at TOSU. He know offense.

If you guys don't know of these names Friday morning, in afraid that'll mean the coogs lost: Greg Ward Jr, D'eriq King, Brandon Wilson, Duke Catalon and Ed Oliver.

Thanks, even further confirms to me what I thought will happen

Let's see how your last prediction went...

I believe it was:

34purdue
27uc

Not sure why you're so negative, but UC can win this game. They may not, but to act like it's an impossibility means you've got an agenda of some sort.

I hope the team makes you look foolish again - kinda like last week.

I agree we can win. Doesn't mean we will. But we aren't playing Alabama.

We have talent...if we are lacking it's not by much. We can win in multiple ways. Win turnover margin, better play calling, less penalties, big plays etc. Rowdy Crowd is just one.

Obviously their rank says they're better but not unbeatable. Just go to the game and yell until you have laryngitis OK?

If we win those categories you just mentioned I am very confident we win. Heck, if we play with the discipline that we had against Purdue, I like our chances. I am most worried about our defense giving up big plays. (Including bad PI plays)

I will certainly be rooting for the Cats. Just trying to stimulate some good football conversation instead of the Rah Rah stuff. My assumption is everyone posting here wants a UC victory.

I think people are high on Houston because they're coming off an 11-1 season in which they pretty much beat up Florida State in their BCS bowl game. They started the season ranked in the top 15 and handled the #3 team in the country on opening week at a neutral site. They deserve their #6 ranking and all the hype that comes with it at this point.

I think we can beat them, we'll have to play virtually mistake free football and capitalize on their mistakes when they make them but I think this UC team can play with most anyone in the country.

This is easily the biggest game in the Tommy T era, we've got a #6 team at home on a Thursday night. He'd better have our guys ready to go.
