I will certainly be rooting for the Cats. Just trying to stimulate some good football conversation instead of the Rah Rah stuff. My assumption is everyone posting here wants a UC victory.

If I had to boil it down, I'd say the game will swing on how our defensive front seven can do at stopping the run - including QB scrambles. If we can consistently get them into passing situations on 3rd down - I think we'll have a good chance. If they can consistently grind out 14 play drives because we can't stop the run, I think we'll be in trouble. Naturally, this assumes we're staying at least close to even on turnovers. If we're -3 on turnovers again, I don't see how we can win.

Last week I thought we would lose, this week I know we will lose....
I would love to look foolish again but it ain't happen.
Wait till you see my prediction tomorrow...

I'm tingling in anticipation. I'm expecting it to include the word 'bazillion' in it.

Lol wow Waite I can't believe you're saying that. You treat the football and basketball teams very differently my friend. I don't get the "rah rah" impression at all in this thread. I think everyone acknowledges that we're the underdog...but college teams that open +6 at home on Thursday night have won before. Not that far-fetched.

The rah rah stuff is 90% of people on here playing both sides, you either think we are going to win or lose. Everyone wants the cats to win but that won't happen every game make a prediction we win or lose or final score period, not if this happens or that happens we win....

So we can't discuss the keys to the game? There are scenarios where we win, scenarios where we lose. We've seen the Tuberville teams play both ways. But most recently, we had a clean game. Even if you acknowledge that the odds are we lose, you can still talk about what would have to happen for us to win without being a rah rah fan.

lol! As I mentioned earlier I have not nearly been as big into the program as basketball. What I was looking for is if anyone new anything about Houston. I mean I know Ward is mobile but who else. Can he beat us if we keep him in pocket. I was really looking for someone to educate me. I will be at the game nonetheless. Would love to see a win.

containing ward will be huge but he threw for a bunch of yards against a very good Oklahoma team. Don't think you can just sell out on stopping the run. Regardless who your playing I agree you can't give the ball away. I think we have to control the game. Is grinding out first downs and limiting possessions for ward will be crucial. Can we we yes but I really think they are the more talented team. Hope the cats make me eat my words.

This game will likely boil down to what we have seen the past several seasons. Hold onto the ball and it will be a competitive game. Turn it over and limit your possessions and wear out your d, not so much. Bond is really going to be critical in this game. If he can handle the frosh nose guard, it will be a big factor. They're going to get their share of points, but we typically do as well at home. Should be an interesting game. I doubt they pressure Ward early, but if he throws well i suspect we will begin to see some stunts. We haven't needed it the first couple weeks.

You can discuss the game but ( not directed at you) don't say haha you look foolish cuz You predicted a game wrong, before game time you make a prediction or don't comment at all....

I wouldn't have bothered if you hadn't been so certain you were right this week and that there is no way UC could win this game. Your complete certainty is what made me want to see your prior prediction.

If I had to bet my house on the outcome, I'd bet against UC (straight up - no line). However, I think there is a 40% chance that we pull off the upset. The fact that you expect us to lose isn't what I was reacting to - it's your notion that it's a preposterous thought that anyone could even think that we could win is why I responded the way I did.

We're all friends here.

Go Cats!

At least you made a prediction and that I respect you for

Here is my prediction

Houston 35

UC 17

That is my prediction I made with my head.

here is the one I will make with my heart

UC 27

Houston 24

I give us a fighting chance because I will be in attendance. LOL

Hope you guys pack the stadium and play well

It is good for our conference for you guys to pack the stadium and impress the recruits you guys invite to the game.

Hopefully it will get great television ratings, great energy in your city and our city and cause both to garner attention and respect.

Having a team who is talked about as positioned for the playoff can only be good for the AAC. Having more than one ranked team is good for the AAC. I hope you guys play us well enough to garner respect and hopefully future rankings.

I do hope Houston wins because they are my team, but I want our conference to be given a huge raise in 2-3 years when the AAC renegotiates any television deal and having packed stadiums with enthusiastic fans and good on field product will only help our conference.

(I make no assumption in any way about re-alignment because that is something I do not have direct control over)

Good Luck. Go Coogs!

Thanks to you and the other Houston fans who have come on and shared your insight. We appreciate the good discussion, and thanks for being respectful.

Thanks for the sentiments. I certainly agree with everything you've said - with the obvious exception regarding the desired outcome to the game. Also, although I think the AAC is a better conference than many give it credit - I hope we're both invited to join the B12. Too much money differential between the P5 and everyone else.

If they expand, I think we'll both be invited as I think BYU is the next closest candidate and I think they've got more baggage than the Presidents will want to deal with.

Good luck - I'm hoping for a good game with a great atmosphere - and a Bearcat victory.

Thanks again.

Will our safeties back and healthy?

Tuberville was asked about this on his weekly radio show last night. He said they're both practicing and should play although he wouldn't commit that they'll start.

I'd be shocked if they didn't play in their normal roles tomorrow night.
