I was listening to Cronin in one of the videos. Can't recall if it was Houston pre game or not. Cronin flat out said...Evans, Clark, and Cumberland can basically guard 1-5. That is an extreme position to take...unless you are the coach and have just made that proclamation.

The two best defenders we may have had in the Cronin era prior to this year (in terms of switching on multiple positions) was Justin Jackson and Titus Rubles. I would probably go ahead and throw Bishop in there as well.

According to Cronin we now have 3 of them on the same team. Whoa!!
Yea we are very good. Evans at least once a game seems to get a block flying from behind that changes momentum. I haven't crunched the numbers but it also seems we have generated a few more points this year off our defense.

The men's and women's NKU teams both play on the road tomorrow, so I think we should have the Bearcats court. Not really sure though.

yea. I just notice they've only switched out the court when its on ESPN networks.

Today is a big game and assuming the NKU's team doesn't practice this morning, i would hope we can roll them out

I do like seeing our name/logo on the court but I am not sure this affects the players in any discernible way. It's good for camera optics for sure. Outside of branding I think it's a non issue.

Speaking of cameras... Does anybody else hate the camera angle for the games at NKU? It seems a bit too high.

Something interesting. We have been pretty steady around 25-35 poll voters for the last 5 games or so. Houston is at 40 already.

I think the program is gaining some steam. 5 voters at a time...lol! But seriously...this site is usually a good representation of fan interest. If we pick up 5 fans here compared to 25...we are probably seeing the same amount starting to tune in to watch games. That would be a 20% bump in fan appreciation. The tides are turning!!

Was he saying that in general, or about their matchup with Houston? Houston starts 3 guys that are 6'1, a guy thats 6'6 and their center is 6'8.

As far as I can tell it was a general comment...not directed towards Houston.

Specifically saying 1-5 would have little to do with 6'1" guards anyway. 4's and 5's don't fit in this category. He said they can guard 1-5. Now...do I think Evans and Cumberland are particularly effective at guarding 5's? NO...but can they drop down in a pinch and put a knee in their back or disrupt their movements? I guess so from what Cronin said.

Our whole team is pretty good at switching. Like you said would I want them defending a guy trying to back them down, no probably not. Lol. But as far as being there to keep them from getting the ball or from getting into good position I think they're pretty effective

I have very little concern for this game. Houston may be the third best team in the conference but there is still a sizeable gap in their talent and ours. They may have momentum, they may be thirsty for a win against us, but none of that will matter against our D. They just don't have enough playmakers to beat us. They give up a ton of rebounds, don't force a lot of TOs, not really much I see going for them in this game. Think we win at home again pretty easily. Cats 75-59

I've actually gotten a pretty good stream the last 2 games, gonna go for it again lol

Last game I forgot it was on CBS Sports. So like 7 minutes before the game I went into panic mode. The stream itself I got was fine, but it was SD and it didn't fill the whole screen. Not the best. I know this other thing is safe so I'm basically paying for that comfort. I mean it was full meltdown. It took like 1 minute for me to come to the conclusion that there was just no way anything was going to work. I would have to miss the game. Lol. 30 seconds later someone had a link and I was off to the races. But I can't go through that again. It was stressful. This time I'll be ready.

I will be at BB&T....definitely a good stream :D

Nice. I hope the crowd is ROCKING! I gotta get to the Wichita State game. I need to see this team go to work in person. Has to be exciting seeing guys making plays, hustling, and covering every square inch of the floor all game.

Hahahah sound exactly like me when I can't get it on ESPN or Sling or my signal sucks. Full panic mode. Lol

The reason I feel good about this game is bc I know we have a mature team.. If we play our game and smother them, there's nothing they'll be able to do. Coach Cronin was mentioning "floor game" a couple press conferences ago. And the guys on our team with the best floor game are also guys who can guard every position. Great chance for consistency. I think Washington is going to show up tonight too. We need him, Broome, Moore, Scott, Brooks and Nsoseme making hustle plays to get the crowd on their feet. Big team effort and win tonight. It's showtime. Our swarming them will be too much to endure.

Kelvin Sampson also thinks we have a mature team with our 4 seniors. I wonder what he will think when 2 of our seniors are seniors again next year. The article can be found on the ESPN page under summary. Cincinnati aims for 13th straight win vs. Houston.

Wonder if we'll see the press from the get-go tonight like we did against Memphis. It worked and also got our offense rolling early but we also picked up fouls due to whistle happy refs and had to abandon it. My guess is we don't because I think Cronin will want to contain Gray and the best way to do that is get them in their halfcourt offense and try to deny Gray the ball and use clock to force bad shots.
