Probably small sample but 3 of our frosh have the three best ortg on the team today. Mason, Eason and Mikey. Not the best situation but something.

The most interesting post-game comment from Brannen was the "we need to get some things in place from a culture standpoint, that I truly believe in and that have to lead our program going forward and if I have to sacrifice some things right now I'll do that". This is right after he talked about building for next year.

Besides implying that some players aren't buying into the culture, the sacrifice part seems to imply at least one of those players is a major contributor. I'm guessing Keith (though honestly Vogt is usually one of our less enthusiastic guys on the bench).

If improving for next year means sacrificing the rest of the season, so be it. But it's a delicate balance, improve the culture while not alienating players. Can't afford to lose more guys to transfer (especially not Eason).
That was his excuse last year until tre and jarron started carrying him. Why would mick players out of all things have problem playing hard? Weak ass excuse. I think Brannen has problem coaching team mostly black players.

I remember Moorman being a lock down type defender but he wanted more. He left. It was a perfect fit for him in the Cronin system but he had other ideas. No big deal. But if you keep him 4 years he probably becomes a good rotational player.
Morman played his last two years at Towson and wasn't very good there. I'd say he was a dud overall.

My eyes will be on DeJulius, MAW, Davenport, and Eason for our remaining games. Those 4 are the future of our program at the moment.
3/4 if not all 4 are great depth going forward, we need upgrades over all 4 to be back making noise. That’s a 2nd unit at best even in this league.

I agree. I actually liked most of the guys on that list, only one I didn’t like was gelawn. I never understood cronin s fascination with him. Guy sucked.
Cronin held him back not letting him play to his strength, gelawn would be all league on this team. He transferred and almost avg 20

You had 4 Cronin players on last year squad and Brannen excuse was certain guys don’t play hard knowing we don’t have back ups for them, this year it’s same excuse with 2 lesser mick players. Dou barely play’s and he said Keith was his perfect player for type system he wants. Dude, just man up and admit your OWN recruits aren’t good enough to win RIGHT NOW. It’s all fine and dandy Mick needed team of older players to win also, Brannen actually has group of older players as leaders so this clown show is all on his shoulders!

Our best recruit for 21 going be Vogt! 100% sure ole coach bringing his precious son back for one more year. Get Jarell Redden on staff IMMEDIATELY for we can lock up State of Cincinnati. I don’t care if we land a McDonald’s all American our best recruit for 21 needs be a recruiting coach. I’m with Justin open the pocket books, pay for play will be legal in next 5yrs anyway.

Guyn was a star at East Tennessee his last year. He was the best player on a team that finished second in a decent SoCon. Shot 41% from three on over 200 attempts and really cut down on fouls and turnovers. He's the only guy on that list who amounted to anything after transferring. Jeremiah Davis was terrible at Ball St. Morman was below average at Towson. Moore has been below average at Morgan St this year. Logan Johnson had a bad sophomore year at St Marys but has been ok so far this year. Alvin Mitchell disappeared.

Definitely need players. Agree there. Like I’ve said, he’s done a fairly good job of bringing in players, Harvey and Eason, dejulius look more than capable of playing in this league. Davenport could be solid. Those guys are a good start. But if guys leave, like they have, you have to start over. It takes time to build a whole roster. But he needs to get talent and keep them.

What’s the deal with the Russian guy? We ever going to see that guy play? Can you imagine if he’s actually good. That’d be a steal, in the one video on YouTube, he looks fairly mobile

I've been wondering this as well. If he can even provide backup minutes at the 5 next year I'd be thrilled.

Worst UC Basketball Game of all time for me.

We were not over matched, just out toughed and out played period. Too many excuses as to why it is what it is right now.

Eason is going to leave in my eyes after the season. I hope he doesn't, but Eason was visibly frustrated for not receiving passes while he's wide open diving down the lane on multiple occasions. That does not excuse him for the dumb goofy fouls or tenderness that he brings to the court.

Keith is in full regression.

John Brannen needs to stop selling what the kids can't see, this is painfully obvious.

At the very least, we should be a good defensive team. NOT!

This is the softest and most nonathletic core of players representing UC Basketball.

How can you build a culture with not 1 guy willing to put on the line nightly for themselves or the coach.

We have a High School Team at the moment, this would not be tolerated for the Football Program, and should not be for Basketball either.

Sucks to be a Bearcat Basketball Fan Right Now!

If yesterdays game reinforced anything for me, it was that the MAW and Davenport types just aren't the level of player we need. From a physical/athletic standpoint they just didn't have a chance.

Tari clearly can play with the guys from Houston. Saunders actually surprised me and had his best game of the year. Houston struggled with his speed and that was nice to see.

Mason doesn't have the athleticism either, but you actually noticed him out there and he's good at being in the right spot and finding a way to be open for a shot. Compare that to MAW who somehow played 27 minutes and I don't even remember him being on the court.

he hasn't been cleared medically yet right? that was the last and pretty much only thing i've ever heard about him.

Lakhin looks like a Rap clone, but without the muscle development or polish. He should be playing for a mid-major. Brannen doesn't seem to understand the level of athleticism needed from bigs to succeed at this level. It's rare to find a Luka Garza, who has the offensive ability to compensate for his lack of athleticism.

Not sure I buy this... MAW and Davenport are fine. Great role players imo. Same with Mason. All three have great value on a high level team.

Problem is we don't have a star. Keith isn't it. He's been putrid all season of we are being brutally honest.

In regards to Tari. He has high level ability, but let's not act like he's been unreal. And frankly his attitude seems to be a problem. He's not good enough to have an attitude problem.

Not sure who john was talking about in his post game... But if players have attitude issues they need to go. There is not one player on this team that would be a devestating loss at this point.

What about buying Brannen out after season?

It seems like that's how it's currently set up. No recruits, piss poor performance on National Stage as Face of the Conference(Rebuilding Year or Not). Players opting in and out, no team leadership from a player standpoint. Catering to inconsistent play.

This is killing our brand instantly.

Does anyone see the future at this point, or Brannen's vision? What happened to the hard working walk ons lol!

Blow it up, as it has already self destructed.

MAW and Davenport aren't 30 minute a game guys. They are guys that come off the bench and can get hot from time to time. It's great to have them, but they aren't starters on a team that is going to go where we want them to go.

Tari was our only player that didn't get shut down from an athletic standpoint yesterday, and that includes Keith.

I would agree here. You sit the whole team in the locker room and go up and down the line and ask players to raise their hands if they are in or out. No hard feelings if you are out. But I need to know who is in! This is about the program not the individual players. Start the first 5 players to raise their hand. That's about where I am at right now. If only 7 guys raise their hands then you have your rotation for the rest of the season. Then go out and recruit 6 more players who will raise their hand next year.

I want only the players who will fight for the program and the coach. If there aren't enough players who raise their hands to field a team...then we have to make plans for a new coach.
