UC is now 5-4 against the RPI top 50. Back on the bubble?

Who dropped out of the Top 50? Seton Hall?

CBS Sportsline RPI has Cincinnati at 67 currently.

When I see teams like Oregon(RPI 48, 22-8), VCU(59, 26-6), currently OUT, this concerns me.

UC currently has 8 wins vs teams with winning records:

Northwestern State(16-15), Pitt(16-15), ND(21-10), GTown(22-7), UConn(18-12), Seton Hall (19-11), UL(22-9), and Marquette(25-6).

Pitt and Northwestern State could easily lose another game making it 6 wins vs teams with winning records.

On top of this, UC has losses to Presbyterian(14-15), Saint Johns(13-18), & Rugers(14-17).

I think we'll make it but the RPI scares me

-----

Oregon has 9 wins vs teams with winning records and it could easily go to 10 if WSU wins a game:
Portland State, NCCU, Stephen F Austin, Stanford, Arizona, Washington, UCLA, Oregon State, Colorado

"Cincinnati [21-9 (11-6), RPI: 65, SOS: 121] Say what you will about Cincinnati's nonconference scheduling habits. The Watch has no idea why the Bearcats would schedule four nonconference games like Radford, Alabama State, Chicago State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff for any reason other than generosity toward low-low-low-majors, because there is absolutely no RPI upside to playing four sub-300 RPI teams at home. But never mind that now: In their past three games, the Bearcats have beaten Louisville and Marquette (and lost at South Florida by one), adding two wins to a 6-3 mark against the RPI top 50 and jumping out to 21-9 overall and 11-6 in the Big East. Make no mistake, those computer numbers are awful, and the committee is no fan of teams that schedule this poorly in the nonconference on a regular basis. But throw the RPI away here. This team deserves to be in the tournament right now, and its shoddy nonconference structure doesn't change that fact. "

Not yet, but in better position after this week. RT @StrailMix: @AndyGlockner is UC finally off the bubble?

Jeff Borzello also saying UC is still squarely on the bubble.

I don't get it...

We CANNOT be on the bubble! CANNOT! The bubble is weak.

We finished 4th in the BE for Chrissakes.

BA1 the I'll take Lunardi's opinion over any of those guys. His track record is unquestionable. He has UC squarely in. I believe they are solidly in as well. Last season we heard the same talk and they received a 6th seed so they were never in the bubble equation. I think they are a 9 now with the possibility of climbing. They have two many good wins and are 4th in one of the top 3 leagues in the nation. Just stop the crazy talk. They are in.

Exactly.

If anything, we are an outlier compared with traditional numbers required for the Dance.

I'd prefer to avoid the 8/9 game...

Beat Gtown, then Cuse......we're talking another 6 seed....if not better.

Lunardi has them at 34th right now. They have victories over 4 teams ahead of them.

Here is my take right now:

Lunardi has them around that 8/9 spot. I think 1 win in BE Tourney puts them on the 7 line at worst. 2 wins puts them around the 5/6 spot. Win the BE Tourney and they end up 3/4. Lose in first game and they will be in the 10/11 spot.

I think a first game loss depends on who beats them. Lose to G'town I think you don't drop below where you are. Beat G'town and lose the next game you're probably 7-8. Win 2 you're a 5-6. Win the whole thing I agree 3/4.

Illinois State leads Creighton in MVC Champ game. If holds someone's bubble will burst. Good that UC fans do not have to worry about conference tourney upsets

As of this morning Lunardi has UC in as a 9 seed. Palm has UC as a bubble team at an 11 seed.

Live-rpi.com has UC at #69. If UC loses to Georgetown (projected opponent) on Thursday UC's RPI falls to #76.

Looks like we will find out on Sunday how important an RPI number is to the selection committee.

I really believe we are destined to be a 8-9 seed playing in Louisville with UK playing as the 1 seed. Makes too much sense.
