Is Mick Leaving to Illinois?

I hate how were going to have to have these rumors every single season. Mick will not leave UC unless he is forced to because...
-his family is in Cincinnati
-he doesn't want another rebuilding job
-UC is his dream job.
This isn't butch Jones or Brian Kelly where its difficult to believe what they say because we have that constant fear they will leave. This guy never wants to leave and as long as he is successful, he will be the head coach at the University of Cincinnati. Let other schools talk all they want, but they'll soon realize they need to look elsewhere. He's staying.

Mick Cronin will be the coach at UC for atleast another 20 years and im perfectly ok with that

If Cronin is offered a better deal he will take it. His pockets run deeper than his loyalty here, hence his move to Louisville. I think he did a good job rebuilding somewhat, but I am not sold on his loyalty to anything. He has invested nothing in the community. I hope he stays but will not be surprised if he doesnt. Talked with a well connected booster a few seconds ago and he stated that it would take a major increase in salary to pull Cronin from Clifton, but he would take the offer if it was "worth his while".

Was told it is very doubtful he would go to Illinois, even if was a major increase in salary. Ohio St., Syracuse, Kansas? That is a different story. But not Illinois.

its not always about the money unless its duke or n.carolina or a school of those magnatude. butlers coach has a chance to go to other schools too but he decides to stay. the beauty of college sports is building a legacy at one school where you can stay for many years if you win alot. cronin is young and building the bearcats how he wants it. he is finally getting fans back, i dont think he wants to start that process over again.

Correct. He has stated how much the rebuilding process affected his life, even ruined his marriage. He said he couldn't imagine doing it again. Money is money but I would be absolutely stunned if he ever leaves on his own terms.

To be fair, Illinois is not 'rebuilding'. It is not rock bottom like UC or Indiana were.

Illinois has four 4 star players that committed just last year. They have a 5 star in Meyers Leonard and 2 other 4 stars from 2010 on the roster.

That is far from the situation Mick was given and I would hardly call that talent 'rebuilding'

No he won't considering NC State offered him way more than UC did last year. He went to Louisville because Rick Pitino gets his assistants to become head coaches, and good ones at that. Your so-called "well connected booster" has no idea what he is talking about. The way Cincinnati and the fans have treated him, which I understand is sometimes viable, but more often than not, unwarranted I think he has been extremely loyal. He should leave he deserves better support.

Very true. Just can't see him taking UC from rock bottom and right when UC starts to succeed from his hard work, leaving. But what do I know, crazier things have happened.

if their so talented they wouldnt be looking for a new coach

Maybe. Or maybe thats exactly why they are looking for a new one :D

Mick won't go to Illinois. I don't think he is as loyal as some think (almost no one is) but Illinois isn't exactly a better job at this point.
