Is Mick Leaving to Illinois?

If Cronin is offered a better deal he will take it. His pockets run deeper than his loyalty here, hence his move to Louisville. I think he did a good job rebuilding somewhat, but I am not sold on his loyalty to anything. He has invested nothing in the community. I hope he stays but will not be surprised if he doesnt. Talked with a well connected booster a few seconds ago and he stated that it would take a major increase in salary to pull Cronin from Clifton, but he would take the offer if it was "worth his while".

Nothing but a wish list. Mick Cronin isn't going anywhere.

I don't see how anyone can be so confident he isn't going anywhere. He's a college basketball coach. Loyalty is not in their vocabulary.

That's not a knock against Mick or UC. College basketball coaches are notorious for thinking the grass is always greener on the other side.

With that said, I don't think he'll go to Illinois either. But $2.5mil/year will definitely get his attention

Poppycock. Mick is UC's Jim Boeheim. NC State offered him the big bucks last year, he had a one word answer to their offer, no.

You calling Jim Boeheim and Coach K not loyal? Mick is them, a UC lifer.

Coach k and boeheim wish they were mick cronin.

Mick will be at uc for life. If theres a way he could coach uc from the afterlife, he would

I swear you are either A)Mick Cronin, B)Mick Cronin's dad, C) Mick Cronin's brother or D) Mick Cronin's stalker

Bank on it. Set family aside and he still has 11 players returning from a Sweet sixteen team. He is at a point were he can enjoy the fruits of his labor. He's not going to walk away from it all now, especially when you throw in his daughter and family surrounding him to start fresh.

this kind of the thinking is out-dated...mick did not leave UC because of money or loyalty...he left UC to learn from Pitino...do you think Mick was going to learn his playcalling abilities from Huggs?...there is a reason Mick is already a better game planner and playcaller than Huggs this early in his career...Mick has sacrificed a lot for this university, and if he leaves, it will not be because he is not loyal, but trying to better the life of his family...i have been a supporter of Cronin from day one...frustrating at times and glorious at others...more than that, I have been a supporter and fan of the university for as long as i can remember...i am proud of what Cronin has done for my university and it's image and i hope he doesn't leave...i do not think illinois is anywhere near the caliber of position that UC is and i think any open coaching position is going to link itself to Cronin...i just wish some people would get over Cronin's decision to better his career and resume by going to Louisville, and support the man who has rebuilt (and i question how he has only done a good job rebuilding...) UC and put it back in the national spotlight...
Go Bearcats!

He said on an interview he is right where he wants to be, there is no way he is going anywhere. He left cincy to go to louisville to add to his resume to get a head coach job he is with the bearcats for good, this rumor will absolutely not happen

What did I say? I was just defending myself against vicious attacks

You know what you do. Mick is this and Mick is that on and on and on. We all know you think highly of the man. You don't need to use every thread to proclaim your admiration.

No chance in hell he leaves Cincinnati for any program, he would consider the elite schools like Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky etc, that about it.

It is ridiculous that this thread is even still open in my opinion. Mick is not going anywhere.

Not to mention, he wasn't a big fan of working for Mike Thomas at UC. Why would he want to go through that all over again?

You have no idea how wrong you and your 2001 thinking are. You and JulieP (wherever she is) continue to beat the UL drum but, in reality, have zero clue what you are talking about.

Your well connected booster isn't connected at all if he/she believes even a shred of that.
