we could be kentucky fans.:D

that leads to my question..would you take a title, then a nit trip and be happy with it, or would you rather have constant ncaa trips for an extend period of time?

like the atl braves 14 trips to the playoffs with only one title vs the florida marlins 1 title but becomes nobodys for an extend period of time.

Constant NCAA trips, of course. They indicate that you're a better team.
This question only applies at the beginning of the season.
When you're on the bubble at the end of the season (like this season), as a fan, I would like to watch the team for as many more games as possible. NCAA, this year might be 2, at best. NIT might be all out to the finals. While not nearly as prestigious, the NIT, at least, gives us a chance to play against teams we might actually match up with. An NIT title is better than being embarrassed early in the NCAA. if you were happy with the ND and UL games, then you'll love an NCAA bid. But no matter which one we play in, I'll root for the team till the fat lady sings!

UC is NOT on the bubble. Lose to USF they will be on the bubble. They are NOT on the bubble right now. They are a 9-10 seed anywhere you look.

The Florida Marlins have won 2.

None of the people whose brackets you are looking at are on the NCAA Tourney Selection committee.

XU's Mike Bobinski is the Chairman of the Selection Committee and he has a serious grudge against UC.

What indicates you area better team? Not sure I follow.

NIT starts out as a losers bracket. I guess some would rather win against losers than be challenged against the best. The NIT is a joke.

It does seem that teams who actually win the NIT gain some valuable experience that often carries over to the next season and leads to a successful season. If you make it to Madison Square Garden, you do get some decent exposure. That being said, recruits still want to see you in the NCAA and any year your not there is a huge loss to your reputation. Unfortunately, based on the way we're playing now, there's no guarantee that we wouldn't get knocked out of the NIT early. Better to take our chances in the NCAA and get knocked out with dignity, than to enter a loser's tournament and get dissed for an early exit there.

Sometimes, you have to play the cards you're dealt. The only loss with dignity (if there is such a thing) is to lose by 1 or 2 to the team that goes on to win the whole thing (or plays in the final four)- but it's still a loss. If you play your absolute best and lose, you, at least can walk away knowing that you executed well. I don't think the HS recruits are that sharp that they can distinguish between top teams more than what they see on TV. Recruiters beating on their door have to sell them the idea that they will play and maybe even be a starter or a star because at that age, the kids are living for today. A lot of them think there is an "I" in team. The rare few look long range down the road. They think they're NBA ready now when you well know that the odds of getting there is infinitesimally small.

Simply a combination of statistics. Miracle runs are always possible

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything.

What are you basing this on? Have teams that won the NIT historically gone farther in the NCAA the following year? And as you said, recruits don't care about the NIT. They care about the NCAA only. It's helped UC in recruiting because they have been to the NCAA two straight years.

Bobinski is leaving and going to Georgia Tech. Do you think he will try to get the Yellow Jackets into the tournament this year?

9 -10 seeds are bubble teams. uc is on the right side of the bubble, but still on the bubble nonetheless.

If you want to extend it out to include 20+ teams, sure, but as we sit right now there are probably 10-12 teams on the S-curve between us and a game in Dayton. Beat USF and we'll finish the season with no bad losses (RPI 101+) and be in great shape for a bid.
