You incompetent fool!!! :D

Look myself, others and Mick Cronin himself understand that the OOC schedule has not shaped up as we all would have liked... there are a number of factors that go into that... BUT, with all of that said the SOS WILL undoubtedly be in the top 75 (if not better) by the end of the year- when it matters.

It's not the most desirable schedule, or position for the team to be in going into BEAST play. But it is what it is and they are an experienced team that should be able to handle it.

I was more referring to those who say it was last right now. It is far from last.

Any schedule in the Big East is going to be in the top 100 for sure. I am not one who is all caught up on it. As long as we win the games that is.

I agree that the SOS will be benefited by Big East play. However Non-Conference SOS is factored in the selection process for the NCAA Tournament. It is great that UC is playing 7 teams in the top 25, but unless they win 2-3 of them, it really doesn't matter. Because of a lack of a signature non conference win (even if they beat X and OU), the Cats are going to have to get 4-5 wins over tournament teams as well 2-3 of them coming against top 25 competition. I have heard a lot of people claiming..well 22 wins will mean they are in, or 10-8 in the big east means they are in. That maybe could have been considered true years ago, but it really depends on who the 10 wins come against. It very easily could be DePaul x2, Providence, USF, St. Johns x2, and Rutgers for 7 wins right there. That scenario would not get it done.

Its the Sagarin rankings, not 100% sure about the calculation but I do know that along with KenPom's rankings its the most respected service for analyzing teams (Although some mid major programs numbers can be skewed).

The one thing none of us can predict however, is how teams will develop and finish the year... Dayton could very well put it all together and finish in the top 3 of the A-10 and contend for a bid... X could find it's rhythm and finish with only 5-6 losses (highly doubtful)... or, Dayton could flounder miserably and finish in the toilet of the A-10... we don't know.

Man, every thread on every UC forum I visit has people griping and complaining about our SOS, and it's getting REALLY annoying. I think everybody understands that this non-conference schedule is weak. Many people were fine with it when it was first announced, but now that some teams don't appear to be as strong (XU, Oklahoma, UD?) as they were in the offseason, people are unhappy. Mick even mentioned it the other day. He said the Dayton game didn't go as planned as he thought that would be a nail biter, and Toledo was supposed to be our first road challenge, but he didn't know Toledo would fire their coach and have every player transfer when they signed this game a couple years ago.

I'm sure if we have a good year and get back into the tourney, we will certainly face a tougher nonconference schedule next year. Look, we haven't been a good team obviously the last few years so I doubt there were many teams chomping at the bit to play us.

All we can do is enjoy watching this team one game at a time, no matter who they play. Stop worrying about our SOS rank after every game we play because as people have said, that means nothing at this stage of the season.

And if we would have faced a tougher schedule and played some good teams on the road, people would be calling for Mick to be fired because he can't coach, stupid scheduling, yada yada yada.

Just enjoy the ride and support this team cause they certainly deserve it.

Just an FYI, I wasn't really griping about the schedule, just saying I understood why UC wasn't listed on bracketology. I was okay with the schedule, kind of get things together before Big East play and go from there. I like the plan. I think a lot of the people here feel the same way.

I think Xavier will be a solid win if the Cats can get it and I think Dayton will improve as the season goes on. Miami will be a decent road win by seasons end. If they beat Oklahoma it's a road win against a BCS conference team. League play is where they will make hay or not. They have to win the games they're suppose to and knock off a couple of the big boys at the top of the conference. If they finish BEast play 10-8 or 11-7 they will be rewarded. Especially if they win a game or two in the BEast Tournament.

Regardless of how bad our schedule is we are beating these teams convincingly just like we should. Uc is in the Big East, who do you guys expect them to play in the out of conference schedule? It will not be long and they will be playing teams in the top 25 night in and night out. All that matter is UC is winning and they are getting games where they can figure out what type of team they are.. Dayton will continue to develop and will challenge for the A10 title i guarantee it. We slaughtered them. As for Oklahoma and Xavier these are teams that can beat alot of team on any giving night. We need to stop looking at the schedule strength right now and start commending the players on how hard they play not to mention how good they are passing. Im glad they have it easy right now it will let them figure out the offensive game.. Come Big east play they will have alot of confidence possibly being a top 25 squad. We as fans can pluck a negative out of anywhere. Uc is beating the teams they are supposed to and thats a lot better than what they have done in the past 5 years. This team will make some noise, let them get the growing pains out of the way vs cupcakes so that away come Big East play they are ready to roll....
