Gates and Thomas came up big tonight on the boards. I am happy for Gates for this turnaround. That block was huge.2 HUGE Free Throws by Yancy!! 11 Points and 9 Boards plus a big block late. He's been very good lately!

I listened to radio early, and it just sounded ugly. Bad rebounding, TO's, and crappy fast breaks (again), but they got it done!
Who would have thought UC would win 10 BE games this year? Not me.
Big difference is having seniors, helps winning on the road.
Good job Mick.
What a huge win!!! I did not watch the game but followed it on game cast. Can someone please answer me this...What was up with the foul difference? Was is just UC not playing too aggressive on offense so MU wasn't getting on fouls on them? Or was UC playing a little too agressive on D or was MU getting help from the refs ha? 26 FT's to our 12 is pretty bad.
Could not be happier though. That is mighty impressive to win on the road against a team that is close to the bubble. Lets send these seniors off right on Saturday!!

Others might have a different perspective, but I think it was due to inconsistency in the foul calls. At the beginning of the game it seemed like the refs were gonna call this one like a typical "let 'em play" BEast game. The UC players adjusted to the physical play, but after about 10 minutes the refs started calling everything.
Marquette didn't have a lot of fouls because they don't play aggressive defense.

I agree that the game was called pretty tightly... I can't complain though I think UC was the benefit of a few calls... I thought when Ibrahima drove the ball to the basket and shot over Butler it should have been a charge- and the play where Kilpatrick stripped the Marquette big of the ball right underneath the basket was DEFINITELY a foul, that was not called... lol

The Thomas play you are referring to is a block all day. The Marquette player was under the rim. It's a no call if he doesn't fall down to try and draw a charge.
I agree with the Kilpatrick no call though.
Cincinnati got called for everything, while Marquette must've had their hands in their pockets while defending. Seriously though, we are bad at putting our hands on guys when they penetrate to the basket and Gates and Thomas are both bad at extending their arms out to try to block shots, both of which will get quick whistles. Marquette played solid defense, but they definitely weren't being called as tight as we were.
They're calling that in college now?- I thought that was still an NBA only rule... I see no halo underneath the baskets...
There's no halo but the halo extends out from the basket in the NBA. It has always been a rule in basketball (HS, College, NBA) that you cannot draw a charge while standing under the basket. If you look at the positioning, the Marquette player would have hit the under side of the rim if he had jumped.
You're going to grind that ax as long as possible huh?
