Mick a Candidate for UNLV?

I'm a mick supporter but I get the feeling mick is gone.

And the program will go to the dark ages again unless they can get Larry Davis to stay on as head coach with interim tag and then hire Kenyon as an assistant.

Is that enough to keep these players here? Maybe
don't know how you can say that? coaching candidates will be lining up to take this job. heck Coach K may throw his hat in the ring. With our fans facilities and expectations this is a prime destination job. Just ask Dantonio, Kelley and Jones what a plum job this is. TT will never leave. of course he won't win much but who cares.

That's a **** poor attempt at...an insult?? Not even sure where you were trying to go there but try again. If you're so concerned about finding a long term coach then let's see what he can bring in on his own. I don't care if he can come in and have a good couple years with the roster someone else built. I wanna see what he gonna do himself. That shouldn't be too hard to understand.

I was looking at that picture of Mick under your name and reading your post, and I was actually almost getting a vision of Mick mouthing those words. The look on Mick's face and the words on your post go hand in hand. It was like everyone was holding Mick back from going after UCBearcats. Pretty funny vision. But, I digress.

Life as a Cincinnati sports fan has never been better. The wonderful end to the Bengals season, the exciting way the Cats and X seasons culminated and we still have even got started on the reds run for the pennant. My head hurts!!!.

At this point i hope he leaves on his own terms and clark/evans/cumberland decide to go to another school. If we're gonna start over let's start over and see what the new coach can bring in on his own. And anyone who wants to label cronin a liar and traitor has got to be one of the most delusional human beings walking on planet earth. If this is what the majority of the fans want then let it be done. I know you wanted to see him get fired and that satisfaction will not happen if he beats them to the punch but i say good for him. If it's time to move on then lets get on with it.

You're a terrible fan btw. I knew you only cared about Cronin and not the program. You have said some, uh, let's say head scratching things the past few days but this is by far the most bizarre.

I agree. The only thing I am worried about is our current and future players. I don't want to lose anyone.

Some of you guys need to get a grip. Everyone whining about the University not supporting Mick is full of it, if you're trying to make that argument you have no clue what you're talking about.

The University has raised Mick's salary numerous times throughout the years, they stood by him in every way imaginable when he went through his health issues, he has the full support of his president and AD and they're doing everything they can to build him a new arena. There have been some money issues over the years but the truth is that Mick's program isn't making the University that much money. Mick has been treated great by this school and if he does leave I'm sure he'd be the first to tell you that.

Mick is the one who took the audience with UNLV, Mick is the one who's considering leaving despite the fact that he's been told by his administration that he has their full support, and if Mick leaves it will be because he wanted to. If he feels for whatever reason this is a new and better opportunity for him then so be it, but that's not going to be on the University of Cincinnati.

Thank you. Some of these people fancy themselves as the "true" fans, but they obviously don't give a crap about the program as a whole. NTS is 100% correct about our fan base. It's kind of embarrassing what I'm reading today from some "fans".

I am a huge UC fan like everyone on here, at the end of the day I feel for the kids on the team and the incoming recruits. I understand that this is a business for Mick and the University, but it is not for them. They are playing for the love of the game, their school, and their coaches. I hope whatever the outcome, that they all end up in the best situation going forward for their future.

Amen.

Assuming Cronin leaves I do believe there are a lot of coaches that absolutely will lineup to take this job (or at least would like to). But we won't even consider most of them and a few of them we will reach out to. Then we will select the best candidate after a vigorous search and interview process. That candidate should be a fine candidate in the end.

I think it would be foolish to think we will see a good candidate coming from a lateral move and I'm not sure I would want one if they didn't have awesome results to bring to the table. So that doesn't really make sense.

I want an up and comer with fire in his eyes and knows how to recruit talent and has shown some early success or maybe an assistant that is highly regarded under a top notch coach.

Exhibit B

Seriously though, if I see one more person on twitter send a tweet to Mike Bohn and Pres Ono telling them to keep Mick I'm going to lose it. What are these people even talking about?!?!? The amount of misinformation people operate with on a day to day basis is staggering.

Blows my mind man.

Definitely agree. I'll be furious if we hire someone who has been fired as a head coach somewhere else.

Why does anyone think Mike Bohn will make a good hire if Cronin leaves? Seriously, look at his track record and show me a good coaching hire.

Didn't someone say Thad Boyle was his hire? Nothing wrong with that for Colorado. And we can do better here.

This is my biggest concern. I obviously like Mick and want him to stay. If he leaves the program must move on. It is a CRITICAL time to be stable and successful in our major sports programs. If Cronin leaves and we lose our core players we will need someone who can get the program right back on its feet. I dont have a lot of confidence in Mike Bohn right now.

Colorado basketball has zero history, when they hired Tad Boyle that had 10 NCAA appearances and zero conference tournament titles. In 5 years, he's made 4 NCAA tournaments and won the 2012 PAC-12 Tournament. Given that program's history, he's done tremendous and was a great hire.

I would hope there are a lot of other people involved in the process that get to put in their 2 cents and it's not just one man doing it all
