Is the family Easter egg hunt at Mick's house or yours this year?

If u had a choice, mick stays and roster stays in tact or mick goes and we lose At least 2 of the 3? Obviously muck leaves and the roster stays in tact is your wet dream but I think we all expect someone to bail of mick leaves

I'm still not sure Cronin comes here - I hope he does. But if he does I have some opinions on your coaching search.

We fired our coach in January so there has been huge discussion in the Las Vegas community on the direction to go for a coach in the intervening time.

Our last coach was an assistant with no Head Coaching experience. He was a former player with over a dozen years experience as an assistant. He bled and still bleeds Rebel Red. IT WAS A DISASTER. He could recruit but that was all.

The administration decided they wouldn't hire another assistant. EVER. They wanted a successful head coach. The problem was there are only so many successful coaches who can be lured away. Easy to get washed up old coaches for a retirement gig, Assistants etc. Hard to get successful younger coaches who consistently get to the NCAA's.

Forget the ones with recent contracts because they have HUGE buyouts. Forget the top 10 or so because they'd be over $ 6 mill. And they have hangers-on who need to be taken care of. Patino's wardrobe assistant probably costs a $million. Most won't leave where they are no matter what. Many won't go anywhere except a Power 5 school.

If we get your coach we were lucky because his buyout was down to a million. We wanted Dixon but Jamie Dixons' buyout was north of $10 mill. We wanted Underwood - but he was lured away by a Power 5.

If we get Cronin you have a couple of issues in finding a replacement that can reach his level. Your facilities are average, at best. There are probably 30 programs with facilities way better than yours. Coaches need facilities to recruit. We have super facilities. We built one superb practice facility "the COX center" and gave it to the womens program to build an even more magnificent facility, " The Mendenhall Center ". https://www.unlv.edu/maps/mdc Another problem is you aren't Power 5. Many good younger coaches will wait where they are - hoping for a power 5 job - rather than get locked in with you guys.

I don't envy the fan base. We've been trying to hire a consistent coach for the better part of 30 years. We had Kruger, but lost him to Oklahoma. I expect you'll end up with an assistant or an up and coming coach from a lower league - like the OVC. Kind of like you did with MC. You did well with him. I don't think you can hit a home run but hope you can hit a tripple.

We're very envious of you. It was nice and convenient for us the last 10 years being able to go to the bathroom and stand in line at the concession stand and get back to our seats without missing any made baskets. Those days are gone now I guess.

When we lose our recruits and lose for the next 4 seasons, will every Cronin hater be happy then.

It's almost like some people would rather Cronin lose and their own assumptions be proven right then to actually have the program be successful

For the record, texted my brother this morning - a UC grad and booster who has season tix for both football and basketball - and asked him what his UC circle of friends think about Cronin. Do they like him?

His response: Yep. Quite a bit.

He's still in his 30s, maybe younger than the crew L-T hangs out with. Just a different perspective from another set of UC folks.

Stop it, no one knows the serious fans except L-T. When your friend gets a locker room tour, maybe he can talk.

Honestly, I think we need some new energy in the program. I think it is stagnant and has been for some time. I don't want to lose anybody, but that definitely is a risk. I think his recruiting has been weak and the fact that he downplays the offense is a major reason why he can't attract top recruits.

As Jakob pointed out I can agree with the recruiting depth but caupain, Clark, and Evans would be a welcome returning trio to just about any program in the country. Let alone cumberland

Regardless of if he stays or if he goes Cincinnati will always be the media's wet dream.

We have bantered about his performance for 10 years. Is it good enough or is it not. Will we get in a new conference and have new facilities. It is like the nightmare that lives on. Whoever replaces Cronin the debate will continue to rage on. I wonder what the hits on this site alone would be if we eliminated all the ones that dealt with Mick. As a Cat fan that in itself is a very painful thought to have to endure. If the new hire doesn't get us in the dance or has trouble recruiting OMG!!!!

I'd love to see next year with mick at the helm. Last year seems like a massive fluke and I find it hard to believe we'd have a duplicate heartbreak season. If next year didn't result in a significant improvement then I'd be willing to see what else is available.
