Without being privy to all that has gone on he may have felt this was his only option. If you want to speculate go ahead. My Guess. is as good as yours. Unless you are walking in his shoes please refrain from telling him or anyone else how to handle their problems. A rule we should all follow.

Sorry, but if this is a ploy to get what he wants then he looks like the biggest cry baby in all of sports. Think what his kids are feeling, or the recruits. Have to be like wtf is going on.

It's says if i dont get my way, ill leave. Who cares about what i done, or what i told my players,or the fans, it's all about me.

It's sad what mick is doing.

Yea if this was a leverage thing then I'd like to know what he wanted. I'd like to think it was resources and such but who knows at this point
If this was a play to get more money I would not have a ounce of respect for Bohn or Ono if they let him hold them hostage for more money for himself. They are not idiots. This isn't about his compensation.

You could also argue it is sad what the University has done (or not done). The University mishandled this whole situation. It should never have gotten to this point. No one is going to look good after this no matter the outcome. If the University ends up giving in to his request then they should have done it sooner before it got to this. If they are not, they should just tell Mick that and let him go to UNLV. No one wins in this situation.

what it says is he'll do everything in his power including walking away from my dream job to get what I think is necessary to elevate the program. His players I'm sure support and understand him and don't want him to leave. He probably has sold the facility improvements to recruits only to have to tell them they have been delayed. Can I ask what you do for a living?

exactly. I'd be embarrassed if I was Bohn or Ono. This could. Have all been worked out before he got on a plane. He works for them. They held all the cards. Thy could have told hi here is the situation if you don't like it will except your resignation. Seen it many times in my career.

what sad is that the Bohn and Ono couldn't find a better way pro resolve this. If it was me I would have met with him and said he is what we can do if that isn't enough I'll take your resignation. Essentially they said see if you get a better offer. He is and he has. Now the ball is in their court.

6 NCAA's in a row is something that only 8 programs have at this time. That isn't chopped liver.

It's good, but participation awards are pretty stupid. Seeds and results have not been good. Conference wins have not been as plentiful as they should be. It's not a job that can't be improved upon.

Absolutely. Happens all the time. Takes honesty from the employer though. Have to be willing to say, this is the best we can do, take it or leave it. UC doesn't seem to want to do that. That's a problem and not a show of good leadership.

Who knows for sure this is what it's about. That's all speculation. Maybe mick just wants to leave. Just because the talking heads says this is the reason, doesn't make it true.

I'm a chef. May i ask why you want to know?

Would you rather have a team in March Madness every year and at least have a shot or watch the tourney knowing your team no longer belongs there? 4 out of 5 teams don't make the tourney. Participation in that tourney is important for recruiting.

Nobody is saying Cronin can't be replaced. But there is nothing wrong with either wanting to keep or wanting to get a damn good coach. Making the tourney is damn hard.

being 1 of many eligible teams to compete is not participation. If it was everyone would be in the tourney. You have to have a certain amount of success to be invited. While like you I would like to see more wins being one of 8 to to have that streak of invites is nothing to sneeze at.

You all are nuts. What I said was that cronin isn't irreplaceable. He did not set a bar that can't be crossed.

Your choices are stupid. They aren't the only choices.

I was responding to your comment about participation awards. I don't view it as a participation award. A berth in the conference tourney is a participation award. Everyone is invited. No one is saying the results couldn't be better once in the tourney. We would all love that. You can't win the tourney if you're not in the tourney. That was my point. My options are valid.

u make it sound so simple like there are just coaches all over that will work as good with this program as mick like they are just floating around at every mid major school with 20 plus wins last couple years. You guys seem to not even take into the equation that the grass most likely is not greener on the other side

if your saying you'd like to see more wins I'm with you. I would also agree that no one should be irreplaceable. The admin has a role to help him elevate program by giving him the tools he needs to achieve such goals. He isn't the only cog in the wheel. He is a good coach. I'd like to see us even the playing field and see if he can build on his results instead of starting over with no improvements With a new coach. I think his accomplisnphments deserve that chance. Apparently President Ono does to. He has tweeted that he has instructed Bohn to keep Mick.
