If this was a play to get more money I would not have a ounce of respect for Bohn or Ono if they let him hold them hostage for more money for himself. They are not idiots. This isn't about his compensation.
what it says is he'll do everything in his power including walking away from my dream job to get what I think is necessary to elevate the program. His players I'm sure support and understand him and don't want him to leave. He probably has sold the facility improvements to recruits only to have to tell them they have been delayed. exactly. I'd be embarrassed if I was Bohn or Ono. This could. Have all been worked out before he got on a plane. He works for them. They held all the cards. Thy could have told hi here is the situation if you don't like it will except your resignation. Seen it many times in my career.
what sad is that the Bohn and Ono couldn't find a better way pro resolve this. If it was me I would have met with him and said he is what we can do if that isn't enough I'll take your resignation. Essentially they said see if you get a better offer. He is and he has. Now the ball is in their court.
being 1 of many eligible teams to compete is not participation. If it was everyone would be in the tourney. You have to have a certain amount of success to be invited. While like you I would like to see more wins being one of 8 to to have that streak of invites is nothing to sneeze at.
if your saying you'd like to see more wins I'm with you. I would also agree that no one should be irreplaceable. The admin has a role to help him elevate program by giving him the tools he needs to achieve such goals. He isn't the only cog in the wheel. He is a good coach. I'd like to see us even the playing field and see if he can build on his results instead of starting over with no improvements With a new coach. I think his accomplisnphments deserve that chance.
