My "ban" from BCN

BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

And now you see why this type of poster is a problem. You censored him basically. I'd love to do this on my board but the reality is you have to make room for dissent.

I completely agree that the topic has been beaten to death and is no longer worth discussing but killing a thread just becuase it's negative will not make the board better.

Why do people feel like they have a god given right to go onto message boards like they are community property and don't have to adhere to the boundaries and rules. Until the government makes it different you are a guest of the people that run the site and should act as so.

The problem is I thought I was following the rules; it was not the manner in which I posted; it was the subject matter. Some posters did not like the subject, so they had the thread deleted. I made no disparaging remarks toward any poster; only stated my opinion. I have read opinions on this site that I disagreed with; or ignored threads that I thought not worth reading. It seems to me if someone does not agree with me or does not like the subject; they should ignore it. I am a Bearcat fan, the basketball situation is depressing to say the least; I see no reason to have Cronin return for a lame duck year; at least then I could understand the losing season that is coming.

Right Drake. Good post.

If we feel like the point of your thread is to just stir shit up then we will delete it.

Another great thing about BCT. I dont have to worry about saying sh*t, it is shit.

Just be cool. Lobot, I see what your saying but I personally do feel we are making this site better by not letting certain peopel hijack threads or start pissin contest.

Our members take care of most of that.

Agreed 100 percent. The problem is we know where this is going to lead. It is a shame you cant have conversations about Mick but honestly the mass majority of people here dont want this site to turn into a place where all we do is debate MC.

WE have people here who don't like Mick. Ready2go and LivingLegend have voiced their concerns and that was fine.

Can we let this go. If you have more concerns please PM me. This conversation is no longer productive here.

Oh we are not BCN btw... A lot of the rules your keep mentioning are theirs. We make personal attacks on LivingLegend all the time. haha

That was more of a general statement rather than about your thread.

Agree 100%. This whole thing about Mick and people saying he should lose his job is so old and thats what separates this site from others, we can actually post and discuss things that don't always lead to topics such as "Mick sucks and should be gone". As for AAA, not the best way to begin your time here on BNT. Fact is there is a great attitude on this board that allows for both sides of the argument, and its topics such as the one you started that degrade that good attitude that has been built over months.

I signed up in feb; came over from another site when someone mentioned over there that this site was around, have told other people about this place.
Now I can't start a topic that is "controversial" am not a "veteran", do not want to be "that guy" whatever that means and have to build "credibility" Evidently I do this by agreeing with "veterans" in a non "controversial" topic in order to appease unnamed indivuals in attempt to build "credibility" striving not to be "that guy"

I was one of those who PM'd SWG to delete the thread that you started. As has been mentioned, this topic has been discussed ad nauseum and revisiting this serves no purpose. Additionally, the timing of this thread is suspect. Just yesterday, Lobot banned a number of posters on BCN due to their consistently negative tenor. This was after it was mentioned that the negative tenor on BCN may have cost UC two highly regarded recruits. On the heels of this, you start a thread with this same negative bend. We have a recruit (Teague) who is about to make an announcement that could return UC to prominence. The last thing we need is more negative threads. We also have family members of prospective recruits who visit this site. During this critical period, posts such as yours are counterproductive and should be deleted. I applaud the site administrator for being proactive. If I hated UC and wanted to subterfuge the program, I would continually start garbage threads like yours and try to pollute every thread with negative rhetoric. What would I have to lose? At least BCN has now taken substantial action to rid the site of these posters and make it a more pleasant site for supporters of the University. If you don't like the heavy handedness here, you still have NCAAbbs forum as you will find others who will join you in nonproductive and useless rhetoric.

My only contribution to this thread. ;)

I'm not sure I follow you. On the deleted thread, AAABearcat mentioned that he had not seen other Mick must go threads, just threads in support of Coach Cronin. I am somewhat incredulous, especially now that he mentions that he has been on other college sites but has never had a post deleted. If he had spent any time on ANY Bearcat related website in the past 2 months, especially BCN, he would have noted that this was a permeating theme. Then out of the blue, especially after a thread on BCN yesterday asking that the website be shut down due to its constant negativity, he posts a similar negative thread on Bearcattalk. IMO, its not hard to connect the dots. If he was a veteran, he may have been given some leeway. But to be a newbiee and do this HAS to raise some eyebrows. I am in no way a veteran here, but I have always felt that sites such as this (which are by design intended for supporters of the University and its sports programs to have a venue to intellegently discuss germaine topics) have an obligation to protect the product. If there is a hint that what is posted may affect the product (Bearcat basketball) negatively, then it is incumbant for the creators to act accordingly and swiftly. This was done in this case, and as you know, IMO should have been done earlier at BCN.

Two great posts back to back.

Thanks.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Honsetly, IMO, it's not the topic at hand, its more of the way you tried discussing/bringing the topic up. Sure we have talked about it like crazy here, but people talked about it in an adult way. The way you brought it up, it was all critizising with no real facts. If you would have brought it up in a different way, it may have been discussed. From the beginning we could tell you were going to be 100 percent negative, and not see things from the other point of view. That, my friend, is no way to start posting at a new site.

We can discuss all topics here, its just the way it's brought about. You, AAA, failed at talking like an adult from the get go, and I hope you know that no matter what, people will always remember you for that. So, let it be known, if you stick around long enough, anything you post poeple will think its an attempt at a dig to the program. If I were you, I would start a new SN and start over, because your first attempt was pathetic. If you want real discussion, don't come out like a complete loser like you did the first time.

Thanks, and good luck with your next post. I for one, hope you can do it better next time. Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe your not an adult and your just a kid, it wouldn't surprise any of us.

What doesn't suprise me is that he's posting on an o$u board.

Constructive = promoting improvement or development vs. Negative = : lacking positive qualities; especially : disagreeable b : marked by features of hostility, withdrawal, or pessimism that hinder or oppose constructive treatment or development

To me the debate falls in these two categories. I want to see people post that are objective and truly make comments based on bettering the future of this Universities athletic endeavors. I don't even want to waste time debating people that have one agenda, and that is to stir negativity toward the program and tear it down at every opportunity.

Say what you want. Just say it with an eye, and heart, toward the positive future of UC. It's ok to be critical. Those that know me, know I don't always agree with Coach Cronin or the University. But I always support it even when I disagree. To be a top notch program, the name University of Cincinnati Bearcats, has to mean more than a coach's or players name. It has to be the program that draws kids. The coach is the closer. My hope is for UC to be so prominent that every season top notch talent takes a look just because of the name and success of this program. As fans we all play a part in that by creating an atmosphere of support in the arena and around the program.
