My "ban" from BCN

BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

This thread is going to be longer than a recruiting one.

Basically, if I think a thread/a post/a member is going to harm this site (or UC), I will take action. Other than that, I try very hard not to interfere with discussions.

Just think before you post.

Honsetly, IMO, it's not the topic at hand, its more of the way you tried discussing/bringing the topic up. Sure we have talked about it like crazy here, but people talked about it in an adult way. The way you brought it up, it was all critizising with no real facts. If you would have brought it up in a different way, it may have been discussed. From the beginning we could tell you were going to be 100 percent negative, and not see things from the other point of view. That, my friend, is no way to start posting at a new site.

We can discuss all topics here, its just the way it's brought about. You, AAA, failed at talking like an adult from the get go, and I hope you know that no matter what, people will always remember you for that. So, let it be known, if you stick around long enough, anything you post poeple will think its an attempt at a dig to the program. If I were you, I would start a new SN and start over, because your first attempt was pathetic. If you want real discussion, don't come out like a complete loser like you did the first time.

Thanks, and good luck with your next post. I for one, hope you can do it better next time. Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe your not an adult and your just a kid, it wouldn't surprise any of us.

It wasn't my first attempt; have posted before, could care less about other people's ignorance. Evidently, your definition of talking like an adult is different than mine, your post proves it.

One month ban for AAA. I just deleted another post of his about MC.

It's tired, and should have gotten the hint already. We'll see if he can change his stripes.

Good lord, I go away for a weekend of failing to shoot turkey and look what happens!

Great points by all members (except one) in this thread.

My take is similar to many others'. This board is striving not necessarily to be the biggest Bearcats message board on the net, but to be the best place for recruiting news and intelligent discourse on the teams, coaches, and administration.

Threads started where the gist of the OP's say is "Mick sucks" or "Mick should go" or "Mick is short" (I'm looking at you lumberjack :D) are not intelligent or relevant and add nothing to the site. I didn't get a chance to read the deleted thread, but I'd have to guess there wasn't a single fact-based argument in the original post, and if there was, it was one that we've discussed ad nauseum in previous threads.

Think about this place as a virtual pub. If a bunch of us just got done talking about the Polish President dying, or the failings of the American government, and a new person that we've never met comes to the table right after we get done and says "You guys hear about the Polish President?", how would you expect us to respond? Would we repeat the entire conversation for their benefit?

AAABearcat, I understand that you want to talk with other people about how Mick Cronin should be fired. You should understand by now that we're not those people...not because we all agree he's the best thing since sliced bread, but because that conversation has already been had here and is redundant and tiresome until new evidence supporting or denying that claim is brought to the table.

My pub analogy above, while getting the general point across, is flawed. In real life if that happened and it was pointed out that we've just finished talking about the Polish President and are now on a different subject (as was done here with the Cronin stuff), the newcomer in all likelihood would accept that and move on to the new topic of conversation. The difference with the internet is that everybody tends to believe the world revolves around them and their whims. "I want to talk about the Polish President," they'd say, and they'd go right on talking despite the fact that nobody else cares. A message board, IMO, should be more about having a conversation than venting. This isn't your diary. We don't care how you "feel" about Mick Cronin. Give us facts or give us your absence.

Gonna go drink an IPA now. I apologize for the long-winded post but it seemed like I needed to catch up after missing all this fun!

I have finally made my way over here. I have to say the site looks great and I've heard good things about the recruiting info. I'm not done w/ BCN but I have to say a smaller pool of members sounds really good. I've got caught up talking about anything and everything other than UC basketball lately. (with a laptop and blackberry on 24/7 it's easy to do)

I recognize most of you guys on here, seems like a pretty cool group. Most of you from BCN were more than knowledgeable and respectful over there. I will try to be the same.

Props on the site, go Bearcats! That's it.

I figure it will probably be permanent next time, but I'm willing to give a 2nd chance. A permanent ban is a looooong time.

Spot on... this man deserves reps. The bottom line is we built this place for mature and intelligent Cincinnati Bearcat discussion. We felt that niche wasn't being hit properly with the other Bearcat forums already out there. Finally, I think there is a misconception by some that we're stating there can't be criticism and that's false. We're simply saying if you're going to call someone out, do so with civility and some tact.

There is a big difference between:

1) Mick is an assbag. He can't coach his way out of a wet paper sack!
2) Mick isn't getting it done. For example, his substitution patterns are poor and he fails to keep opponents from going on big runs.

Bottom line is when you're giving your take, do so with at least a little class. Backing up your thoughts and opinions with some substance, facts or examples will always win out over hurling insults. To those that understand this and bring good conversation to the boards, we thank you!

That pretty much means Spinner is through here. I second what Bearcat said. I meant for an open board, but that also comes with responsibility that AAA failed to adhere to.

You don't post often, but when you do....................it's a goodie!:D

It takes him so long to formulate a thought, that it should be good. I have, however, neither the time nor luxury that he enjoys.

Kapow.
