Woooo Sweet 16 time!!! I turned the game off last Sunday when we went up 22. Cant wait to watch us play the 11 seed tonight for a chance to advance to the elite 8!

Isn't JJ the highest % on the team? And who was on the floor with Gary? Can't remember

Jenifer didn't average a trip to the line per game this year. Pretty small sample size and his % was better by just a couple points.

I don't remember off the top of my head who was in the game at the time. But Evans should've been the guy if he was in. Even Cumberland bc he was playing well.

Completely agree.

I still have no issue with leaving Cumberland in the game. But I do see the point where we could've done a defensive sub and put him back in next whistle on offense, or at the under 4 media TO. I don't think that decision is something you can kill the coach for either way though. The Trevon Scott decision in the exact same game paid off, when we played him with 3 fouls in the 1st half. Not the same exact situation, I get that.

Trevor Moore should not have been in the game in crunch time. That is on Cronin 100%. He ALWAYS has his mysterious "defense" guy. No one else on earth thinks a guys defense is that great. Fine maybe, but not spectacular. But Coach will have his mind made up and never come off of it for their whole career. He's a Cronin guy. Then we end up with a zero on offense and a guy who makes just as many defensive mistakes as anyone else. Moore immediately gave up an And 1 when he came in for Cumberland. Not his fault. He should not have been in that position. That is Coach Cronin's fault 100%.

Anything that happens on the court is ultimately on Coach Cronin. We operate using his gameplans. And we practice and train under his direction. So what you see on the floor is a result of what he is teaching the guys to do. So when Evans freaks out and throws it to the other team, when Jenifer throws up WTF shots, when Cumberland take a long 2, when Broome freaks out and takes an iffy shot, it's all on Cronin. He simply did not have our guys ready for that moment. The biggest moment of the season. We were not prepared. That's on the coach. He did not have them trained, composed, and prepared enough to make the plays needed to close out the game. If we have the talent, and we do...if we have the depth, and we do...and we are a complete team, which we were...there's no excuse to not get the job done. Our players play hard. They give effort. They are committed to getting better and playing the game the right way. So if the right buttons are not being pushed, and the right plays are not being executed, that's on the head guy and there is just no other way around it.

Coach Cronin needs to hardcore own this. I wasn't really joking when I said he should have to watch the game every day. I rewatched most of it. It's funny bc I remember what I was thinking at the time. I was all happy and dumb. When the score flashed up showing UNC losing, I remember just mentally crossing another team off the list. "This thing is really opening up!" lol. But Cronin needs to really analyze what he was doing, thinking, and saying...and never f*cking do any of it ever again. This kind of stuff just doesn't magically fix itself. It hasn't for Marvin Lewis. And we haven't made it out of the first weekend 7 of 8 years. With the losses in the majority of those years coming against non-P7 competition. Not good enough.

We scored at a 14 points/40 minutes pace the last 6 minutes of the game. Got outscored 12-2. Musselman outcoached Cronin. He wants his players to be answers. But he didn't have answers for them when they needed them the most.

I don’t know the answers but these kind of loses in the tournament have been happening here for 25 years, two different coaches. You would think it would stop at some point, but I honestly don’t know anymore.

I'm gonna look, but I remember thinking..Gary??. Then looking at the guys on the floor and feeling a little better about it

It’s really difficult watching the Nevada/Loyola game knowing it could have been us. Ugh, so much disappointment and sadness.

The game of basketball has just gotten so sad to watch with all of these players flopping constantly and refs falling for the acting of these players

Maybe its the way Mick sounds when he bitches about this being a single elimination tournament, blah blah blah, but I'm coming around... especially with so many good teams throughout college basketball. Seems like it's becoming more about just avoiding flukes and we are awful at that.

Apparently folks on Bearcattalk know more than just about every analyst in the country. If you wanna down play beating Wichita @ home, on senior day, during the first ever CBS broadcast at their arena then do you. Diminish Houston for losing on a buzzer beater to the most picked team (and probably hottest team in the country) to come out of that bracket? That works too i guess. It was a historic collapse, yes, but that team showed how good they are. I want tournament success as bad as anyone, but looking back and shitting on the season of UC and many other teams based on the performance of a single elimination tournament is beyond absurd to me.
.
We beat no one who is still in the tournament. Either we had a terrible schedule or weren’t that good. I did not “shit” on the season. I hope you are not claiming we are one of the best 20 teams in the country because the results do not bear that out.

Let’s see Loyola was able to hold off Nevada because they have better players than UC right? I don’t think so. The word “coach” comes to my mind even more than Sister Jean.

Lol.. so we are gonna pretend our guys didn't do anything wrong, it was totally Micks fault.

That's a stupid measuring stick... beyond stupid. And yes I do think we are one of the 20 best teams in the country. Next?
