It will be interesting to see how this game stacks up. People always claim that defense wins championships. Nevada is an offensive team who can score. Cincinnati, in comparison, is known for its defense and struggles to score. How will this shake out?
Not in college basketball defense does not win championships. Even our own coach Mick, constantly says you're going to need offense to beat good teams. I guess you need an adjusted offense and defense both in the top 20 to win a title. But I can definitely tell you mediocre offense will not get it done in the tournament.

Also made a comment about Jacob Evans and 4 years, any one else hear it.

I did. He said sometimes you miss on a 2 year player like Luke Kennard and it's a blessing in disguise because you end up with a 4 year player like Jakob Evans. Not sure id read too much into it though.

At first I loved the tip time, but now after pacing around for the last 2 hours and knowing I have 7 more hours to go, sucks

These are the days I just mindlessly clean my house and do laundry while trying not to think too much about the game.

The last thing my 3 year old said before she rolled over and went to sleep was: I hope the Bearcats win daddy.

Before that, instead of the usual bed time story, I told her a story about a group of Bearcats being surrounded by a pack of wolves who were trying to send them home. I told her about the hero of the Bearcats, Gary Clark and he was brave and saved his friends from the Wolfpack. And how they lived happily ever after.

Lol this is the only way I can get my daughter to care about UC basketball and now Gary Clark is all she is talking about this morning

Haha this is great.

Offensively this team is just like SMU last year.

here is how similar they are:

SMU ADJ Offensive efficiency: 119.8 (10th)
Nevada ADJ Offensive efficiency: 120.1 (8th)

SMU eFG%: 54.6% (32nd)
Nevada eFG%: 55% (26th)

SMU 3pt%: 40.6% (4th)
Nevada 3pt%: 39.7% (18th)

SMU 2pt FG%: 51% (100th)
Nevada 2pt FG%:51.9 (97th)

The huge difference between these teams offensively is that SMU was a flat out elite Offensive rebounding team and sent all 5 guys to the glass. Nevada is not, and grab a full 10% less offensive rebounds than SMU did.

As for Nevada, they protect the ball better than SMU by a large margin. In fact, their most TO prone player by TO rate was the guy they lost for the season. All the guys on the floor protect the ball really well for the most part.

Breaking their rhythm and forcing 10+ To's will be huge for UC. TO's and offensive rebounding will be key to beating this team, as the reality is Im not sure we can score with them but it won't matter if we get extra possessions.

Offensively is as far the SMU comparison goes though. Nevada would rather trade baskets than guard you. However they are absolutely great at protecting the 3 point line and I think its largely in part to their 6'7 size on the wings. The bright side for us, is our most volume shooters are 6'5 and taller.
