As for Nevada, they protect the ball better than SMU by a large margin. In fact, their most TO prone player by TO rate was the guy they lost for the season. All the guys on the floor protect the ball really well for the most part.
Their new point guard is Cody Martin, who has a TO Rate of 24.9 in Kenpom Tier A games. In their game at Texas Tech, who has the most similar defense to ours on their schedule, Nevada had 21 turnovers. 7 were Cody's. This team generally protects the ball, but we still might be able to turn them over.

Spread is up to 9, so money is going on the cats. We show up, we win.

Need to perfect the game plan on defense, I think we're going to eventually get what we want on offense, here's hoping our shots fall. This year when teams shot the ball lights out, our team was able to make it go offensively also. Love the veteran leadership, we have scorers and madmen. Win the boards, take smart shots, don't turn ball over, all a recipe for a great day too be a bearcat. Let's goooooooo.....

Nevada was held to 68 in 40 minutes against Texas.

When Bamba fouled out, they dropped 19 points in 5 minutes of OT.

They can score really quick, but their offense is not above getting stopped.

One thing Texas did though was hit 11 3's. Our options are to either match their 3's or double them up on the 2 point made baskets and free throws.

I think early season games can almost be thrown out at this point. BUT texas tech did force 21 TO's. Cody had 7 but his usage was also higher than his season average by almost 20% in that game

However he is an interesting stat:
In the 8 games without Drew, they have still only had 2 games with double digit TO's and in both those games they had 10 TO's exactly. Guess what happened in those games? They lost.

In fact, this team has 7 losses and in all but 2 of those losses they turned the ball over 10+ times.

So it seems that the magic number is 10+ TO's.

Which seems low, but for a team who doesn't create a lot of extra possessions with Rebounds, them Turning it over is a huge factor

And I don't think any of us would consider Texas a defensive Juggernaut. They had some guys who later in year started to score more, but leaned on Bamba a ton on defense, and for rebounding. Not to sure he great they were individually at defending without him.

Kenpom calls them the 10th most efficient defense.

While I was not impressed with them, they are doing something right and their defense kept them in a ton of close games this year

I don't want to see Moore playing in favor of Broome or Jenifer.

Me neither, while i think he will become a solid player in future, he is definitely not shooting the three well at all. If Williams can get his mind right, it wouldn't hurt seeing him in on defense. Scott will be extremely important this game.however substituting Scott for Jennifer at times and letting Cumberland run point wouldn't upset me.cane should be quickest guy on floor. Time for a big game from him. Just don't turn ball over.

Today we have to beat Nevada. That's all we can do. We are better than them. Let's go play like it!

I would say a lot had to do with Bamba Manning the paint. Kid had unbelievable reach, with good athleticism. Once he was out, Texas guards couldn't contain the dribble. I think over all we're definitely better defensively. Got to make some shots. Got one game under our belt, so I think our offense jump starts a little quicker than last game. Nevada can't play to aggressive defensively, hope we use that against them.

I worry about our pg defense and being able to score. They're pretty much 6'7 across the board giving us really no height advantage and at least a 7 inch disadvantage at the 1 spot.

i'm not that worried about size. florida states whole team was 7'0 last year and xavier beat them by 30. Arizona was huge and buffalo ran them off the floor.
