All highlight videos look impressive.

I think he is going to be a good player and will help us next year. But the truth is he lost his job at north carolina state and transferred out. And the stats and the eye test show the guy looooooooves shooting the basketball. And his shot is weird looking, and I don't think he always takes good shots.

And I'm not sold on him being a good shooter either. I don't think anybody would call Clark a good perimeter shooter, but he's 5-8 from 3 this year, so Washingtons 7-13 from 3 last year doesn't really move me one way or the other.

Agreed but you can also see in highlights things he can do that we aren't getting out of any big. A lot of his highlights were mid range and long range shots. Ellis doesn't take ANY long range shots and neither does DeBerry and Clark only takes completely unguarded shots.

You can see certain things in highlight videos. I saw things I have never seen from Ellis/Clark/DeBerry...and it was not a HS video.

I could make a highlight video of Clark nailing multiple 3's right now. Would you watch that and think he could come here and be an outside shooter?

Of course all Highlight videos look impressive. What you can see from the video is he has good range and nice ball skills for a man his size. Something we have been dying to see from Ellis. He will give you a more face up option down low. He'll also catch that ball at the FT line against zones and knock down that shot. I don't think you'll see him roaming around outside the arc looking to launch 3's but he does have range. Something I have been dying to see out of Oct.

I know he's capable of hitting jumpers and likes to play a more face up style. What I don't know is how effective he is at doing it. He wasn't effective enough at it on his last team to keep his playing time.

I know NTS has put up stats on fg% when taking jumpers for some players in the past. I'd love to see those stats for Washington, I have no idea where NTS gets them.

If he comes in next year and is drilling jumpers all over the place I'm going to love it. I'm going to need to see it first though.

No because none of them are guarded and it's a slow process. If you watch the video you will not see that in Washington. He can go up quick with a man in his face.

Have you watched it? You can see a huge difference

Thank you NTS.

Also this is from NTS earlier this year

Last year Ellis was 42-110 (38.2%) on 2 point jumpers.

Washington is also almost 20 pounds stronger than his max weight at NC St. He's improved a lot scoring at the rim since he arrived...

Kyles ability to shoot will really open up the lane, if Gary can get a some what solid jumper we will be very tough to defend 1-5. Replace shaq and Ellis with kyle and evens and the shot threat nearly triples. Can't wait to see cumberland and kyle next season

I liked the addition of Washington but we'll just have to wait and see how he develops. I was expecting a lot more out of our frontcourt this year and it hasn't been realized yet. Even with Washington, their depth is a complete question mark. Moore still hasn't shown he is capable of being a solid contributor. Scott is a complete question mark as is Brooks. I'm holding out hope for Scott but it will be his first true year in the program and that typically doesn't bode well under Mick. Same with Brooks except he looks more raw and doesn't have the benefit of a redshirt. I woudn't expect much out of him next year.

A very high-level booster told me at the game last night that Washington will be an upgrade over what we have this year. Both attitude and skill will be better.

lol what the hell does it matter that a "very high-level booster" has the opinion as opposed to anyone else's opinion?

do you intend to imply some level of access that magically provides a more qualified opinion on how a kid's play in practice will translate to actual games?

i am super impressed at all the people you know, though.

bend your knees.

Without writing a full page response to your ignorant post, I'll just say, yes, I do know many people at the university and in the athletic department who I can get information from. It's not hard at all to find people who have seen Kyle Washington in practice, and in open scrimmages, and who can make a determination that he will be an upgrade to what we see today. I have also attended some events myself and saw him play with my own eyes. In case you don't know, there are some boosters who have access to and attend almost every practice, and if you are fortunate enough to know them well, you can get some pretty good information. Nothing magical about it. It's just having friends, something you may not know much about.

rekt.

my point is that there is a significant limit to how someone's play in practice translates to his play in games. this particularly player is someone for whom we have actual high major game footage.

kj can be a fantastic practice player.
