He and CapnDale only have negative things to say even when we win. Yeah, this team is brutal right now, but they go too far.

Not true, Schields. I give credit when and where it's due. Check out my prior posts.
Part of being the coach is instilling life values in your players as well as coaching well. I don't think he's done that. We talked about that in prior discussions - players tuning out the coaches. What Cronin DID do well today is he got the bench a bunch of game minutes. That was important for a multitude of reasons. I would expect lots of bench minutes for the remainder of the games. At least now Mick knows who he can go to for relief. I think GeLawn is really coming along defensively, and he has a few moves hidden in him. Shaq played a decent game, too. But for heart, they should all look to Parker. He NEVER gives up, no matter what the score. I was also glad to see SK make several attempts to attack the rim (which is not his forte). Otherwise, the Bigs are the Bigs. Only Cheikh tries to rebound through strength. I think it was just too much to ask our guys to bang the boards when they had two guys in who were 6"10 +. Cheikh was out-manned. Rubles and JJ are just too small to defend vs. them.

Conference tournament losses do not count as conference losses. They would still be 9-9.

Regardless, it doesn't look good when you limp into the tournament going 4-6 in your last 10 games (that's if we win 2 of the next 3) and 2-4 in your last 6 games.

Oh I have seen previous posts. The majority have been pessimistic jokes about the team. Obviously this team is doom and gloom, but your exaggerated sarcasm gets old very quickly.

No doubt. Just referring to the conference record comment.

Travelled to South Bend for that bs. I have never been so embarrassed to be a Bearcat fan. 4 players constantly standing around doing nothing and Cronin doing absolutely nothing about it. An utter joke.

Shields, I went back and looked at my posts, and you're right - the majority of the posts, especially this months are critical of the team. But that's part of being on a thread. People will have "pie-in-the-sky" optimism and others will be realists. I just happen to be a realist; but that, by no means, makes me less of an ardent fan than you. I have been a die-hard fan since the Oscar days (I wasn't very old then - I am now ). I went to EVERY game when I still lived in Cincy, all the way back to Tay Baker. I even made the regionals in person in Anaheim (we got beat by Stanford but should have won), the year KMart broke his leg (we would have won the whole thing had he not). So I think I've earned my right to post my opinion, good or bad. Maybe next year will be all positive stuff, but give me something good to post about before the season is over, and I will!

Fair enough, very big of you to admit to that. I consider myself a realist but have become the optimist on this board due to the negativity. Hopefully this season is not lost, but it doesn't look good; very disappointing to think where we were 6 weeks ago.

41 points on 31% shooting (16% from behind the arc). They out-rebounded us, 40-25, although we won the turnover battle (5 TO's to their 11). None of that matters, however, as a loss is a loss, no matter how much you pour over the stats.

Most notable of the stats, however, is the assist column. The Bearcats logged only four assists for the entire game, which is an embarrassment. It's a likely side effect of having one player dribble the air out of the ball while the other four players merely watch. It would be nice to have an inside game, of course, but even when our big men post up, the guards are reluctant to throw it to them. Jackson, among others, needs to stay on the block, and the guards need to feed the ball down low. Our big men may turn it over or miss a shot, but at least the other team will be forced to guard the entire floor.

It's frustrating to watch Cash, knowing that he clearly isn't 100%. He has no lift in his legs, and his shot is suffering. What's more, his defense has suffered dramatically. As long as Cash suffers, we need to play Guyn more. Defensively, he's a better option than Cash; offensively, at this point, it's a wash. Shaq Thomas also needs more minutes. He can penetrate, and he needs to be encouraged to shoot. When he gets four feet from the basket, he needs to go up with the shot, as opposed to passing the ball/deferring to one of our guards.

Lastly, every player on the floor needs to move on the offensive end. Constantly. Open shots don't just appear - they need to be earned.

I've been in the same boat. This team lately has been frustrating, especially today, and I'm sure it's framed in a lot of my comments. The fact that we keep getting frustrated shows that we care and believe they are capable of more - that's being a fan too. Today's venting was more therapy than anything.

Good breakdown. It's really sad watching Cash right now. He looks like the last thing he wants to do is shoot, and when he does, it is reluctant. You can tell he is stuck between wanting to help his team and realizing that he is hurting the team. At this point, Guyn and Thomas need to be playing a lot of minutes. I will confidently say Parker is our best offensive player right now. He needs to realize this and become our go to guy for the rest of the year.

Parker is just plain old TOUGH!
Cash is, indeed, sad to watch. he even missed from his "spot" today. An airball no less  His confidence is shot. I wish I knew how it could be restored, because it's affecting his whole game. He's not getting steals, assists, etc. Maybe he's lost interest? Maybe time for a starting lineup shuffle: Parker, Guyn, Shaq, SK and ? Cheikh? Rubles? A zone defense?

Oops, I apologize for adding an "l" to your name. I just realized that. Not intentional in case you took that as sarcasm.

I'd like to see more 2-3 zone, going forward, personally.

You simply cannot play 3 v 5 on offense. The best thing they can do is add another wing/guard into the starting line up so they can actually spread the floor.

Cash
Guyn
SK
Parker
Nyarsuk/Mbodj/Jackson

or

Cash
SK
Parker
Thomas
Jackson/Rubles/Nyarsuk/Mbodj

3 on 5? UC has three guys that can score? Cash was worthless today and has been since his injury. SK has had a bust of a year unfortunately. Parker has been decent but he just isn't good enough to carry the load. Sprinkle in a horrible offensive scheme and you get the lowest scoring total in 20 years (1993).

This is getting old, and fast. I can't think of a more disappointing season in my lifetime. I spent money on tickets and I beginning to think I got jobbed. I don't even mind the losses but the product they are putting out on the floor is embarrassing. Cronin should have just stayed in the locker room after his team only had 15 points in the first half. This offense is inexcusable and he should be taking responsibility.

okay, don't want to pile on mick, but why in the hell would he even mention something about the refs after a 20 point beatdown? does he really think the refs had something to do with only scoring 15 freaking points in a half?

did the refs cause jj 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 5 fouls in 15 mins?

why would he even bring up the refs?
